Well, soon it will be the beginning of another school term and everyone is out checking the stores' lists of supplies.  It's been a long time since I purchased them for my children or my parents purchased them for me.  Things have really changed.  It was one of the exciting things about starting a new school term.  You could pick out your own favorite things and maybe some extra neat things!  Not so anymore, from what I've seen and been told.  You are told to purchase a certain brand and color of everything from A to Z, including Kleenex (sorry, that may not be the brand) and how many of each! And if you don't comply, you and/or your child will be notified!  Not a big deal, you say?  Or are you as upset as I am?

Note to Administrators and teachers:  YOU DO NOT PAY FOR MY CHILD'S SCHOOL SUPPLIES!  You should not have a say of what brand of crayons I buy nor the brand of notebook I buy.  Nor have you the right to demand that I purchase them for MY child and then dump them into a common bin!  And that goes for Kleenex too!  And what is this 4 boxes of these and 4 bottles of that?  I am responsible for MY child's school supplies, not the other 30 students in the classroom!  If I want my child to have something a little special for use at school, that is MY business.

Do you know what you are teaching them?  It's the very beginning of SOCIALISM!!!  Small, but that's how it starts.
