Fort Zumwalt Park Closes to Cars on Monday

The park is closed from Monday until mid-January 2012, as O'Fallon prepares for the annual Celebration of Lights display.

Fort Zumwalt Park will close to cars starting on Monday, Oct. 17, as crews begin to install holiday lights and displays for O'Fallon's annual Celebration of Lights

For the past 20 years, the city has transformed Fort Zumwalt Park into a winter wonderland that visitors are invited to stroll or drive through during the holiday season. The City of O’Fallon teams up with local businesses to sponsor the event and and raise funds for participating non-profit organizations.

This season, the Celebration of Lights opens on Friday, Nov. 25 and continues nightly through Dec. 30, except for Christmas Day.

Fort Zumwalt Park remains open to pedestrians during daylight hours, and will re-open to cars after the holiday display is removed in mid-January 2012.

For more information about the Celebration of Lights, contact Festival Coordinator Megan Steinmann at 636-379-5574 or msteinmann@ofallon.mo.us.
