A St. Charles man faces criminal charges after O’Fallon Police said he threatened another man with a handgun Friday.

Matthew Rose, 34, of the 2200 block of Graystone in St. Charles, was charged Saturday with unlawful use of a weapon.

O’Fallon Police said Rose went to a business in the 100 block of East Elm Street in O'Fallon Friday because he had invested in the business but hadn’t been paid. Police said he went to the business to collect merchandise in place of payment.

An altercation between Rose and the victim started and Rose hit the victim in the face with the butt of the handgun, police said in a report.

The victim also told police Rose pointed the handgun at him when he left. Rose denied pointing the gun at the victim.

Bond for Rose was set at $10,000.
