Man Rams Rental Car Causing $10,000 in Damages, Deputy Says

The renter had a full order of protection against the driver, Tyron Scott, police said.

An O’Fallon man was charged with slamming an SUV into a rental car Tuesday, causing an estimated $10,000 in damages.

A St. Charles County Sheriff's deputy said in a report that Tyron S. Scott, 27, of the 600 block of Eggering in O’Fallon, was upset when he purposely drove his 2000 Nissa Xterra into a 2011 Nissan Altima owned by Hertz Rental Cars. The Xterra is owned by Scott's mother.

The woman who rented the car has had a full order of protection against Scott since Jan. 3. She was not in the car at the time. Scott damaged the car outside a residence in the first block of Norwood Drive in O’Fallon, according to the report.

Scott was charged Wednesday with first-degree property damage in St. Charles County Circuit Court.

On Thursday, he was being held in St. Charles County jail on a $10,000 bond.
