He stole the liquor bottles from the O’Fallon Walmart and threw them at the officer on the same day he violated the protection order, according to court documents.
Chad McCormick, 39, was charged Jan. 4 with two counts of violating an order of protection, once on Aug. 31 and again on Sept. 26.
McCormick also was charged Feb 7 with misdemeanor theft, assaulting an officer and resisting arrest on Sept. 26. His last known address was listed as the Economy Inn, 1390 Continental Drive in Wentzville.
O’Fallon Police said McCormick called a woman’s home phone and left threatening messages for her on Aug. 31 and Sept. 26 after she had gotten an order of protection against him.
Police also said he stole two bottles of liquor from the O’Fallon Walmart, 1307 Highway K. An O’Fallon police officer pulled his car over, but McCormick got out and ran with a liquor bottle in each hand, according to a report.
As McCormick ran, he turned and threw the bottles, nearly hitting the officer, police said. The officer attempted to use a Taser on him, but McCormick turned and charged him, according to the report.
The report says the officer took McCormick to the ground and arrested him.
