Men Planned to Use Car Theft Proceeds to Fund California Trip, Police Say

The men were found hiding out in a vacant house in Sunnydale Mobile Home Park in St. Charles.

Three men were found in a vacant St. Charles home Sunday, hiding out after they stole items from cars in the Sunnydale Mobile Home Community, St. Charles Police said.

Police said the three planned to leave for California three days later and were going to money from selling the stolen items to fund the trip.

The three men were found in a home on the first block of Greendale Drive after a neighbor spotted them entering the mobile home. They are:

  • Jacob Hamilton, 20, of the first block of Taylor Court in O’Fallon;
  • Jonathan Zamarripa, 19, of the 3700 block of Harry S. Truman Boulevard in St. Charles;
  • Jonathan Liszewski, 17, of the 1600 block of San Miguel in St. Charles.

Hamilton and Zamarripa both were charged with second-degree burglary and felony theft. Zamarripa also was charged with resisting arrest.

Liszewski was charged with second-degree burglary and receiving stolen property.

St. Charles Police said Zamarripa stole a wallet and credit card from a vehicle in the 200 block of Pinedale Drive Sunday. Hamilton stole two cameras, valued at a total of $1,300, from a car in the 200 block of Brookdale Drive, one block away.

They then took the merchandise to the home on Greendale, where they examined the merchandise. Police said Liszewski was in on the plan.

St. Charles Police said they also found pipes with marijuana residue and a beer in the vacant home.

 Zamarripa also fled from an officer Sunday as the officer tried to make a legal stop, according to the police report.

The three men are being held in St. Charles County jail. Bail was set at $10,000 each, cash only, for Hamilton, Zamarripa and Liszewski.

He was planning to go to California by stealing people's things. Doesn't really seem like he had much concern for his 4 year old child. Better off he is away from the child as he would only be a bad influence/deadbeat dad. Wrong crowd, my ass.

I agree with Sam. I know Jake too. I let him stay at my house when he didn't have any where else to go and turned around and stole from me. Screw Jake! What comes around goes around. He belongs in jail.
