O'Fallon Man Charged With Burglarizing Vacant Homes

Joshua Middleton is charged with 27 counts of Burglary 2nd degree and one count of a Theft/Stealing of over 500 dollars.

An O'Fallon man is charged with burglarizing several vacant local homes.

Earlier in January, the O’Fallon Police Department requested the public's help in keeping an eye out for suspicious activity, after a rash of vacant home burglaries during the past month. Thieves were targeting copper pipes in basements.

According to O'Fallon Police,  Joshua Middleton, 23, O'Fallon, admitted to burglarizing vacant foreclosed homes in O’Fallon and the surrounding area.

On Jan. 12, the O’Fallon Police Department received a call from a citizen in the area of the 300 block of Copper Tree Ct., regarding a subject looking in the windows of a vacant home before leaving the area in a truck.

An O'Fallon officer later stopped Middleton and he was arrested and taken to the O'Fallon Police Department.

The St Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges on Middleton for 27 counts of Burglary 2nd degree and one count of a Theft/Stealing of over 500 dollars. He is being held at the St. Charles County Sheriff’s Office Jail with a $50,000 dollar bond.

O'Fallon Police worked with the St Charles County Sheriff’s Department, St. Peters Police Department, and the St Charles City Police Department on this investigation that led to twenty eight cases being cleared within the St Charles County region.
