The woman told O'Fallon Police she started to pass out as he choked her Wednesday.

An O’Fallon man faces a criminal charge for choking his ex-girlfriend Wednesday at his home in the 8100 block of O’Fallon Lakes Drive.

Jamal Rhodes, 25, of the 8100 block of O’Fallon Lakes Drive in O’Fallon, was charged Thursday with second-degree assault.

O’Fallon Police said Rhodes and his ex-girlfriend were arguing when he began choking her. The woman told police that Rhodes choked her hard and long enough that she began to black out. Police said she had scratches on the right side of her neck and red marks on the front and left side of her neck.

Bail was set at $20,000 for Rhodes.
