O’Fallon Man Fires Shotgun Into Bedroom Where Baby Slept
The man also threatened a neighbor who confronted him about the shooting, O'Fallon Police said.
An O’Fallon man fired four shots from a shotgun Sunday, and two of the shots hit a mobile home next to his in the 2300 block of Oakbrook Drive in O’Fallon, police said.
Eight people were in the home, including a baby who was sleeping in the master bedroom where the shots were fired. O’Fallon Police said they found a shotgun pellet in the bedroom closet and seven pellet holes near the bedroom.
Mark B. Fetsch, 49, of the 2300 block of Oakbrook Drive in O’Fallon, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful use of a loaded firearm by an intoxicated person.
O’Fallon Police said Fetsch was drunk when he loaded his 12-gauge shotgun and fired four rounds. One was fired into his own porch and another was fired in an unknown direction.
A neighbor confronted Fetsch about firing the shotgun. Police said Fetsch told his neighbor “if he valued his life and his five children’s lives, he should go back into his mobile home.”
Fetsch also damaged a fire hydrant with a large rock, according to the report.
Officers also reported that Fetsch made statements about hating people and wanting to kill others.
Fetsch was being held in St. Charles County jail Thursday. Bail was set at $30,000.
