O'Fallon Patch Readers Discuss 'Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day'
The O'Fallon Chick-Fil-A had long lines on Wednesday afternoon. We asked readers on Facebook what they thought of the recent controversy surrounding the chain.
Supporters of gay rights called for the boycott of Chick-fil-A restauraunts after the company's president Dan Cathy told the Baptist Press last month that the corporation is "guilty as charged" for backing "the biblical definition of a family," according to the Huffington Post.
The drive-thru lines at O'Fallon's Chick-fil-A were long on Wednesday afternoon on "appreciation day." O'Fallon Patch asked Facebook readers: Did you go? What do you think of the recent controversy surrounding the chain?
Readers Respond on Facebook:
Mike Nunnery: I appreciate both the right for Truett Cathey to voice his opinion and I support the right for gay Americans to fully participate in all legal matters granted unto every American citizen including the right to marry their chosen significant other in life! We could do with less rhetoric and more dialog between all peoples of this great Nation we call the bedrock of freedom!
Paul Baker: The people have spoken. It's refreshing to see that the far left, radical hate machine didn't keep people from supporting a great company...
James Wren: Can't believe this many morons waited in line for the god awefull food they serve...and why support such a terrible company...
Larry M Persons: If this was a vegetable stand this would be a different story.
Kathy Miller: Wonder how many of those people realize he took a swipe at divorced parents and single parents too? He said they support the biblical definition of marriage and they all were married to their first wives. That first wives comment gives it away. I'm not eating there again.
Kim Coots: I will eat there and support them because I believe a lot more companies should be closed on Sundays.
Cathy Mueller Hoffmann: ...and I believe NO ONE should FEAR stating their opinions because of what public ridicule they may face!! Clearly those in line support the FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!!
Kortni Wu: There are brave men and women risking their lives over-seas and here we all sit arguing over if it's politically correct to eat a chicken sandwich. Eat there or don't. #morepressingissuesathand
