O'Fallon Has Plenty of Options When it Comes to Summer Camps for Kids

O'Fallon Patch rounds up local summer day camp programs for kids.

School will be out soon and summertime is right around the corner. What will your kids do for entertainment? O'Fallon Patch has you covered with this list of local programs to keep your kids busy when school’s out.

O’Fallon Parks & Recreation

The ’s Parks & Recreation Department has summer day camp for kids ages 5 to 12. Activities include games, sports, art projects, swimming, field trips and more. Campers need to bring sack lunches and drinks each day, but note that there will be no refrigerators or coolers available onsite. Field trips are covered in camp fees. Each camp runs in one-week sessions and has a different theme.

  • G.A.T.O.R. Camp—This day camp is held at . In addition to the previously mentioned activities, campers will be able to swim at twice a week.
  • Camp J.A.C.K.—This day camp is held at . Campers will enjoy the previously listed activities as well as swimming at Renaud Spirit Center twice a week.

O’Fallon Family YMCA

The offers day camp as well. There are a wide variety of camps available for kids, including various sessions of traditional camps, aquatics camps, sports camps and arts and humanities camps. View the full list of O’Fallon day camps at the YMCA’s website.

Parents can register campers online or in person at the O’Fallon Family YMCA.  At registration, you’ll need to pay the first week’s fee plus a $15 deposit for each additional week. The deposit will be applied to the weekly camp fees. For additional information, visit the YMCA’s website or contact Tina Miller, director of childcare services at tmiller@ymcastlouis.org.

Boys & Girls Club of St. Charles County – O’Fallon/St. Peters Unit

The Boys & Girls Club’s summer camp programs at the O’Fallon/St. Peters facility offer activities from “gardening to swimming to the annual ballon launch,” according to the organization’s website. Other activities include arts and crafts, computer lab, game room, cooking classes, swimming, movies, outdoor games and gym activities. Field trips and reading help are also offered.

The program begins May 29 and will run through the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year and is for kids ages 6 to 12. Camp is held Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Enrollment is limited, so be sure to stop by the O’Fallon/St. Peters Unit, located at #1 Club Way in St. Peters, or call 636-240-9150 to register soon.

 Kids ‘R’ Kids Schools and Academies

The O’Fallon offers summer camp for kids from preschool to age 12. Activities are varied, and include indoor and outdoor activities. The theme this year is “Camp Tremendous Time Travelers,” and the organization says that this camp is special in that it will teach kids valuable skills they’ll remember forever.

“The best part is the kids learn these skills without realizing they are actually learning with our exclusive Kids 'R' Kids Summer Camp Curriculum and unique theme,” the organization’s website says.

O'Fallon's British Soccer Camp

O’Fallon and Challenger Sports have teamed up to host the week long British Soccer camp for children ages three to 14 during the week of June 25 through June 29 at the O’Fallon Family YMCA Fields.

The camp will run Monday through Friday and each player will be coached by a member of Challenger’s British coaching staff. Kids will learn soccer skills, drills, tournament style plays and customs of other countries.

"College for All Kids" Summer Camps at St. Charles Community College

St. Charles Community College’s. (SCC) "College for ALL Kids" is now enrolling for more than 40 day camps and programs held between June 6-Aug. 12, for kids ages 4 to 16. Before and after care is offered from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Cost is $25 for either and $40 for both.

Kids can take everything from cooking classes to lego robotics lessons, to web computing and computer game design. Project Runway camp and So You Think You Can Dance camp are also planned.
