O'Fallon Police Issue Citations During Red Light Enforcement

O’Fallon Police recently conducted a red light violation enforcement that lead to 27 citations.
Two teams of officers worked for four-hours on Oct. 3 at the intersections of Veteran’s Memorial Parkway at Bryan Road and Route K at Route N. According to police, these intersections are both high violation areas and in the top five for intersections with the highest number of crashes.
During the detail, officers conducted 28 traffic stops, issuing 18 red light or failure to yield right of way on green light violations. Two drivers were arrested for outstanding warrants and one person was charged with Driving While Suspended.
Funding for this effort was provided through a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Division in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Missouri Safety Center.

Outstanding work by our #1 OPD! These folks that run lights are the ones that cause the accidents later down the road. This type of enforcement is necessary to gain the respect of the public for the red lights and stop lights!

I would have to agree. There have been times where I have seen someone run a red light and think to myself, man I wish I was the police. Its either their not paying attention or their in a hurry and just don't want to stop. Don't be one of those people that says man I should have stopped, when its already too late.
