The burglary at the Rendezvous Cafe and Wine Bar occurred early last Saturday morning.
O’Fallon Police said a burglar stole two bottles of wine, but left cash sitting outside a restaurant early last Saturday morning.
Robert Bertram, 19, of the 100 block of Civic Drive in O’Fallon, was charged Saturday with second-degree burglary.
Police said Bertram used a landscaping brick to smash a window at the Rendezvous Café and Wine Bar 217 Main St. in O’Fallon at about 3:46 a.m. Saturday. He took a cash drawer and exited through the window, then re-entered the restaurant and took two bottles of wine, according to the police report. He left through a side door.
Bertram was arrested at his residence within walking distance of the Rendezvous Cafe. The money was recovered in the cash drawer outside the restaurant. Both wine bottles were located; one was broken and the other was recovered intact.
Bond for Bertram was set at $15,000.
