Political Poll: Akin or McCaskill, Who Has Your Vote?

If the election were held today, which Missouri Senate candidate would you vote for?

We are now eight weeks—56 days—from Nov. 6 when the general election will take place.

Most of the attention has focused on the race to the White House, but there are other races voters will be deciding. A big one in Missouri? The battle between incumbent Democrat Claire McCaskill and Republican challenger Todd Akin for one of Missouri's two Senate seats.

Heading into the election, we're going to take the temperature of the St. Charles County electorate. We want to find out whom you're favoring. Last week, voters favored Mitt Romney  37-13. Does Akin lead McCaskill by a similar margin? Are his controversial comments  still harming him, or have voters moved past that issue ?

What about McCaskill? Does she have an incumbents advantage

Share your thoughts in the comments below and vote in the poll.

An Akin Vote is going to be every Missourian women's dirty little vote of the decade. None of us are very happy with his comments, or apologies, but regardless of party lines, we cannot live with Claire for another 4 years,so Akin will take the election by a staggering landslide.

Akin apologized and even my pro-choice sister recognized the manufactured outrage of the Republicans in charge. Many in med and nursing school in the 70s were taught that violent rape was typically terminated by the victim's body. The concept was held by many and re-circulated in the late 90s. This theory, although often true, is not 100% true 100% of the time. Akin realized that and apologized. Move on, folks, nothing more to see or be mad at.

I've lived thru what seems like an eternity with Todd Akin and his far right agenda. This has taken all of us, not just women, back to the dark ages, he doesn't speak for me or my family. He's supposed to be a legislator not an ordained minister when he goes to Washington to represent the people. He can no longer be objective about this office and needs to find a church in which to lecture - not the halls of congress.

Regina:
Akin is asking to be Senator "representing Missouri".
Our whole Federal Govt has set an agenda Attacking every religious belief in this country.
Dems have embraced woman who are not shamed to tell our youth that pre-marital sex is OK. This govt has forced the supreme court to rule that our religious freedoms take a back seat to the "woman's rights", totally ignoring the unborn rights.
The family moral breakdown is working to confuse every young children minds.
That is showing up in our schools today.
Akin represents Missouri, who has already said that enough is enough to our Washington legislators.
YES! Akin is a legislator, and that mean he is responsible to address ALL moral issues of this country.
Morals do not only relate to Woman bodies. Morals relate to how people would handle any situation. We all should have representatives that value "ultimate future repercussions" in our laws. (Not just short-term feel good decisions)
You are very wrong in your interpretation of a "legislature"
You have chosen to define a legislator under your own narrow thoughts.
Legislators do speak from a Podium, and I would also wonder how many speeches from that Podium had "minister resemblance".
McCaskill would not represent Missouri's populace , as she has already proved she represents "A DEMOCRATIC LIBERAL ANYTHING GOES MENTALITY".
She represents a woman's rights candidate.
She has the agenda of what makes for "disfunctional families"
Vote AKIN!

That's just an amazing statement. Regardless of what I think about Akin, I'm pretty sure the fact that you're typing your statements on a computer means YOU AREN'T in the dark ages. Maybe you don't know what "dark ages" actually means.

You might try educating yourself.

Tiffany, I hope your correct on the landslide. He will not be able to change the Abortion debate or the laws, so those that are pro Abortion really need not worry. Almost every important issue that McCaskill has been involved in has been against the majority of Missourians, proven by vote. I have written to her several times, not as someone against her, but as a soldier supporting other soldiers with issues. I have always gotten a response in the form of a generic letter. After the third attempt, I said thats enough. She or her system sends me automated emails, now when they get in the mailbox, I just hit the spam button.
I hope the majority of TRUE AMERICANS will understand that hard work gets you ahead, that the small business owner is really the large portion of the true and legal distribution of wealth, by employing people who want to get with the American dream.

Claire McCaskill has stood on the side of Missourians around every corner. How dare anyone say that a "true American" could not vote for McCaskill and how dare they insinuate that McCaskill has not worked hard to get to where she is at. McCaskill has worked to end earmarks while Akin has added earmarks to bills he signs. While Akin voted for his own pay raises seven times, McCaskill turned them down each time offered. Finally, over 100k Missouri students are able to go to school because the federal student loan program, Todd Akin wants to abolish it. Claire McCaskill is right for Missouri, Todd Akin is the one who is far out of the mainstream... Re-Elect Senator Claire McCaskill in 2012!!

Gayla, I don't think dw19t2 was saying that you are not a "true American" if you don't vote for McCaskill. I believe they were responding to Christopher's remarks about TRUE AMERICANS.
There are just people with different points of view. I for one, think trickle down does not work and income should be treated equally whether it comes for work or investment. The middle class builds the economy and creates jobs. There are others that think only investors create jobs. I don't think they want their children to live in country that is worse than the one I want mine to live in.
Anyone that is concerned with the future enough to post in a discussion about this is a "True American" in my book and deserves to be treated with respect. Same for the people that run for these offices, they put themselves out there because they believe they can make a difference. There are just different ideas of how to get to a better place.

I'll ignore most of your nonsense, dwl9t2, as you tend to respond to what people DON'T say as much as what they do say to you.

I will say this, federal student loans have INCREASED the cost of college. They have not made college "more affordable". When you artificially increase the demand for a product (by taking my money and giving it to a bunch of other people for the sole purpose of buying said product), then the costs skyrocket.

Look at how quickly college tuition rose immediately after the government started subsidizing it more than before. It's basic economics.

The name calling, insensitivity and blatant nastiness in this dialogue is tragic. It's not just here on the Patch...It is all throughout our country. We are All Americans but we act as if anyone with a different opinion is the enemy. Sadly, WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY AND THE ENEMY IS US....

I sympathize with your sentiments on this Mr. Frain, & with those of the good Rabbi.

On the other hand, I think you should keep in mind that we're dealing with diametrically opposed opinions on a variety of issues in many cases & these are quite critical issues that go to the very heart of what our country stands for, not to mention the economic future for all Americans and our children and grand children, and even generations further into the future.

I had to agree with Rodney King when he asked "Can't we all just get along?" when the rioting broke out over his arrest and beating, and the exoneration of the police involved. But in many ways this is quite different.

Our country faced a similar issue in slavery many years ago that literally tore our country apart. I don't think that such a fundamental moral issue can be swept quietly under the rug while we have a nice reasonable discussion about it... for months, turning into years, turning into decades. I don't think we ever would have come to a reasoned, rational consensus on that issue. But I don't think everyone should have ignored it, perpetually putting civility above morality either.

I think it's a little ironic perhaps, that you mentioned putting the arguing aside in remembrance of the tragic deaths on 9-11. The biggest controversy between these 2 candidates could be abortion. We deliberately kill more innocent human beings every day than were killed on 9-11, including Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas

The goal is to defeat McCaskill, not to debate a science on the woman's body.

I have said that "birth control Pills" eventually will be proven to increase "CANCER"
in Woman. That taking birth control Pills lead to "Increased Medical costs" for all society.
That long-term use of ANY pill or drug is dangerous to any Body, not just a woman body.

ALL FOR SCIENCE TO DISPROVE or PROVE.

Akin is not running to be a scientist. Akin will vote his "con-SCIENCE".

Could it be our 435 members of the House and our 100 Senators in this USA actually use "SCIENCE" in every decision they make.
Is that conscience the reason we have debates?
AKIN is 1 of 100. All will use "science" in there somewhat provocative upcoming Senate/House debates.

AKIN will use his con'science against opposing con'science---What can be any better than that.

Congressman Akin obviously used a very poor choice of words, but he isn't the first to do so, and unlike many others, quickly apologized for it. I've heard some rather ridiculous rants from people claiming that he's "pro-rape", and "hates women", and it's hard to even give people talking like that the benefit of the doubt of perhaps not having heard the interview. Charles Jaco didn't blink an eye when he said it, never pressed him on it, and was probably quite surprised when a few people took it to the media in a vigilante frenzy. If we elect Todd Akin, it will be a national mandate for the full repeal of Obamacare. Don't underestimate it's unpopularity. Missouri voted for Health Care Freedom by 71%. In Ohio (where it's supposedly a toss up) they passed it with 67%. Florida has a Health Care Freedom Amendment on the ballot THIS NOVEMBER! Additionally, we elected Claire McCaskill with a Democratic mandate. She doesn't think she is "too good" for Missourians that she has to make decisions for them, she was elected by them TO make decisions on their behalf. We live in a representative democracy. That is why they are called "Representatives." It's amazing how peoples lack the basic knowledge of democracy to even make a fair comment about why someone should no longer be in office. Another funny thing. Todd Akin voted 6 times to raise his own pay. Claire McCaskill? She turned down the pay raises. This is the sort of thing in Washington that should disgust people above all. Todd Akin is just another example of Washington cronyism at the core. Self-serving, misleading, and anti-scientific in all the wrong ways. I disagree that the Senate is irrelevant to the abortion issue, Mr. Thompson.

The Senate must ratify nominations to the Supreme Court, and in the past they have been quite active in blocking Supreme Court nominees who even *may* disagree with Roe v Wade or *might* be in favor of abortion restrictions. See Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas.

There are several Supreme Court justices who very well could retire over the next 4 years, and the Senate would vote on whether the nominations go through.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg will be 80 yrs old in March. Antonin Scalia and Anthony Kennedy are both 76, and so would be 80 before the end of the next presidential term, and Stephen Breyer is 74 and Clarence Thomas will be 68 before the next president's term comes to an end.

You never know which of the 9 current justices will decide to retire or come down with significant health issues.

Not even counting the Supreme Court justices, there have been efforts in the past to take the issue out of the hands of the Supreme Court legislatively. That would obviously involve the Senate.

FYI Aiken was NOT the original Tea Party canidate as you state. However, the primary decided that Aiken should be the one to oppose McCaskill and being as the conservatives in our state can relate better to Todd than to Claire, then the vote must be for Aiken. Claire speaks out of both sides of her mouth and is a staunch Obama supporter. Hers was the deciding vote for Obamacare, which she voted in favor of in spite of her constituent's wishes. I am aware of numerous calls and letters to her regarding this and many were even unanswered by her. She does not represent the majority of the state, she is a rubber stamp for Obama.

Any Catholic Woman who votes for McCaskill is voting against "GOD".
The Catholic woman who vote McCaskill are allowing the liberal agenda to "steal your religion". Obama agenda gets McCaskill's vote.
That means "abortions" will be allowed , against "GOD's" beliefs.
Same-Sex Marriages are OK with McCaskill-Obama. They both have many moral principles contrary to your religious beliefs.
Traditional family and "moral"s of this country will be NONE.
I would therefore repeat-
The GARDEN OF EDEN time is upon you once again.
The "PILL" has replaced the "APPLE"
Take the Pill , young woman , it's good for you, says the force of temptation.
That the free Pill ,Sex is not shame, re-defining marriage, taking prayer out of your school , and the abortion of babies (for the sake of medical) are a pattern of destruction in everything "GOD" and the church stand for..
Akin is a vote for Catholic religion. You must see that.

If you believe that all Catholic Women do not take the Pill or some other contraception, then the Catholic Church in Saint Charles and other communities in Our Nation would be the largest in Population, but they are not, because Women take the Pill or use something else to control Birth of a Child, so I would ask that all Women of the Catholic Faith Confess that they are Women that control their Bodies by preventing Birth of Children due to reasons that are personal and sometime complexed in Marriage. This is not what the Church advocates yet it goes on each and everyday by Women of the Catholic Faith. I am stating Fact not Fiction as Akin is stating and have stated in the Pass. Vote For Claire McCaskill

BradleyDe:I do know that Catholic woman take the Pill.
You actually confirmed that, woman should "confess that it is to prevent Birth of children for population".
That does not mean Catholic woman should also vote for "forcing others to pay for that"
Sandra FLuke&CarolynKennedy are a disgrace to Your Catholic religion and it is not becuase of the Pill.
A vote for McCaskill is also a vote for "same sex marriages" for "eventual late-term abortions of children" for "continued removal of "GOD" from" your moral life.
Hypocritical to be "half-Catholic in "GOD's eyes.
Akin has zero power to change anything. McCaskill does have the power to change the whole direction of Catholic freedoms. The Pill being the "Lure" to trap you.
Hence, my Garden of eden analogy.
I am pointing out that If you vote McCaskill,You are responsible for the ultimate removal of "GOD" from our life. McCaskill's Party- to remove GOD from their platform? Your moral catholic beliefs are gone from our Public schools.

I am here to warn Catholic woman that this election is a choice between "GOD" and ALL HIS TEACHINGS. I cannot make it any more clear than that.
AKIN is not out to rid you of that Population control "PILL"
But Democrats (including McCaskill) will eventually remove ALL your FREEDOM in areas you never can imagine today.
That is why I state , Catholic Woman are selling their Bodies to the "_ _ _ _ _"
Catholic Woman voting for McCasKill are "hypocrites" to "GOD" and their religion, Period!.

Vatican Adds Seven New Deadly Sins ... "The new deadly sins include polluting, genetic engineering, being obscenely rich, drug dealing, abortion, pedophilia and causing social injustice."
Score card:
Claire one votes for two deadly sins .. Genetic engineering and abortion.

Seriously? I am shocked that anyone would elect an official who doesn't know what I learned in middle school. He's on the Science committee! Keep whining that Claire is Obama's girl and put this fool in office. Make Missouri a total laughing stock by voting for a guy whose own party ran from his stupidity. Even in an election where we have had some exceptionally stupid comments Akin's shined through as the dumbest. He really thought that! Then there is the "forcible rape" comment. Not to mention his "forcible rape" usage in a proposed BILL! What a pig! I have two daughters and want that lunatic no where near making decisions for their well being. It's disturbing that anyone would vote for him knowing what he thinks. So you're willing to vote for someone this out of touch with reality just because you don't like Obama? If that's so then you deserve him but I don't. My children don't. Please please please tell me Missouri isn't so spiteful they'd put our future in the hands of Akin!

Notice his latest ads do not address what he would do but rather against McCaskill, while McCaskill stands on her senatorial record. Today's Democratic Party is NOT to help you, but to "lure" you into losing Freedom a little at a time. Every dollar you pay for Govt support requires some freedom loss.

It could be your body or some doctor or Hairsylist or clothes you desire.
Once you pay for someone else's lifestyle---You lose yours'
If woman would despise Akin, then they should double despise McCaskill for embracing Sandra Fluke and Carolyn Kennedy. (Both a disgrace to the moral teachings of Christians).
War on Woman is not in the USA. It's happening Throughout the muslim arab communities NOW. McCaskill supports eventual "sharia" law that sets back woman rights to pre-historic times. Now that is what McCaskill's Democratic party would like for all woman. They support the Bill Clinton's" who actually would ruin several woman lives in forcing them to be his personal "playground".
Now Obama-McCaskill voted in tandem for "free birth control" a "Lure" for the eventual capture of Catholic woman who are willing to "SELL THEIR SOULS"
Get the Catholic Woman vote- say's McCaskill 's party
Akin is condemned for a science mistake, While woman would not condemn McCaskill for her votes that will lead to many abortions in America.
Abortions paid for by Catholics.
Shame on every woman who does not see what is happening to our moral standards. Your young daughters are are becoming the future "male playgrounds"

Hey RealityCheq:
1) Chrysler was NOT bailed out. The govt guaranteed a $250mil loan from the banks. All the money came from the banks. No Taxpayer funds were used
That is not a bailout.

2) GM A whole different story. GM owed billions in back due pension contributions.
GM owed retirees medical insurance payments and billions more for union employees. GM owed billions to Bondholders who loaned GM money to buy new equipment and machinery. That's the scene--
Now , the President Borrowed $60bil from China and gave it to GM to payoff all his union buddies. That was not enough , So B.O. then tore up all the bondholder claims against the company. Those families were left penniless, losing their life savings by the actions of Mr O.
All in the name of "I saved Jobs". Leaving You and I and every American with the debt to pay off whenever we can TAX it.
GM will never pay off about $25Bil-- and that is a Master Bailout by a Prsident of the US.
A President that had no authority to spend $1 of taxpayer funds.
You see, that is the job of our Congress.
And you think "sharia" law could not be imposed?
The GM incident was not a "bailout" NO It was an Unconstitutional Act by the President of the US and an intrusion on America's Bankruptcy laws.

Now Chrysler is Fiat owned, and GM will be gone in 5 years.

wake up and look around you, if you think that Sharia couldn't possibly be practiced in this country. if you have any doubts, do some checking on Dearborn Michgan to begin with. we are slowly losing our constitutional rights. what do you think "politically correct" speech is all about, if it isn't a weakening of our first amendment right to freedom of speech. very slowly we are losing the freedoms that we have enjoyed since our founding fathers created the basis for our country. in a great many places it is now against the law to smoke in public. if that doesn't bother you, it should. not because I am a smoker's advocate, but because, what's next? they're already targeting obesty, look at Bloomburg making it unlawful to sell sodas over 32 ounces. they're trying desperately to take away out second amendment right to bear arms.slowly our country is being turned into something that eventually we won't recognize. by the time you realize that we are right, it will be too late.

I know recisely what sharia is. what I'm trying to say is that we are on the road to our laws being undermined, our rights; unprotected. this is the very atmosphere that is friendly to others being allowed to force THEIR laws on us as ours are being dismantled. a perfect example is what happened at our embassies, in the name of their rightious indignation (supposedly) about someone person making a Youtube video that somehow insulted Mohammed. and our response? we apologized! can allowing sharia in this country be far behind? I'm just sayin'....... it itsn't a long jump from allowing it to actually being forced into practicing it. then it will be to late to hit the rewind.

No one apologized. There were condemnations of both the producer or the protesters. Not just for the US but from the countries they are in, both Governments and citizens.

But what is difference in Sharia law and fundamentalist Christian law? If you don't want Sharia, you have to support the separation of Church and State. Trying to make this 'Christian Country' is doing the same thing. We are a country who's majority is Christian, that is very different from being a Christian country. Theocracy's have the worst record as far as liberty, justice, equality or other human rights. The Catholic Church had it's chance in Europe, they call it the Dark Ages.

As far as our country being a "Christian" one, I have never thought of ths country as being one theology or another. However, if you check you will find a HUGE difference in the religions such a Christianity, Budism, Hinduism, vs Islam. None of the other religions advocate killing the others who don't believe as they do. None of the others are intolorent. As far as I know about other religions, their beliefs don't include world dominance. Islam is NOT a religion of peace as they would have you believe, it is a religion of hatred. And, although off the subject, RealityCheque, I don't think that the feelings about this president are so much hatred for the individual, he appears to be a very likeable guy in fact. I think where the hatred comes in is about the direction this country is going in. Here is where we come full circle, because as many of us see it, our country is being transformed right before our very eyes into a country where freedom is becoming more and more a rare commodity.

FOR MATURE AUDIENCE ONLY
The killings of the US ambassador to Libya and three of his staff were likely to have been the result of a serious and continuing security breach, The Independent can reveal.

American officials believe the attack was planned, but Chris Stevens had been back in the country only a short while and the details of his visit to Benghazi, where he and his staff died, were meant to be confidential.

The US administration is now facing a crisis in Libya. Sensitive documents have gone missing from the consulate in Benghazi and the supposedly secret location of the "safe house" in the city, where the staff had retreated, came under sustained mortar attack. Other such refuges across the country are no longer deemed "safe".

Some of the missing papers from the consulate are said to list names of Libyans who are working with Americans, putting them potentially at risk from extremist groups, while some of the other documents are said to relate to oil contracts.

According to senior diplomatic sources, the US State Department had credible information 48 hours before mobs charged the consulate in Benghazi, and the embassy in Cairo, that American missions may be targeted, but no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert and "lockdown", under which movement is severely restricted

It's okay to be a Muslim in the USA. You can get your own TV show if you're a polygamist, breaking the law. You can wear the hijab in school, but God forbid you bring a Blble or wear a Christian t-shirt! A kid here in the Warren County area was told to turn their Christian t-shirt inside out because it was "inflammatory" or "distracting." What is distracting about promoting morality and truth? You can't even bring your Bible and read it by yourself at lunch time while you're in school. Prayer isn't allowed in school any more; they've taken "Under God" from the pledge of allegiance. How much longer before it's illegal to be a Christian?
Claire will not be getting my vote. Missouri is a mess. Children are going hungry. Unemployment, especially in rural areas, is ludicrous. We're in trouble and leaving people in office who haven't done any good during their current terms need to be let go. If they performed like that at a paying job, they'd probably be fired. Lady, you are certifiable. Of course it is ok to be a Muslim in America, we have freedom of religion. Of course a polygamist can have a tv show, we have freedom of ideal. I don't know about your specific case related to Warren County, but I don't believe this should be happening either. If the student wore a shirt that was degrading to others beliefs like "You will go to hell" or "You need to be saved", etc, I can understand how it could be deemed as distracting, in the same way an Islamic shirt claiming "There is only one God and he is Allah" would be distracting. The public school system is a place for people of all and no beliefs to be educated and if anything poses a major distraction to the learning of other students then it needs to be dealt with accordingly. As a recent graduate of a Missouri public school. You can bring your Bible to school and read it during time designated as free time. Prayer is allowed, in private time. Under God is still in the recited version of the Pledge, even though the original version didn't include it. On top of all this, where did you get the belief that Claire McCaskill has anything to do with anti-Christian sentiment? She is a practicing Christian herself. If you don't want children to go hungry, maybe you'll reconsider Todd Akin who voted to end reduced price/free lunches for children. Unemployment is actually better in MO than the national average and Claire has voted to keep more jobs in rural Missouri by keeping rural post offices

She claims to be a Catholic, but fights against the core teachings of the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church teaches, for instance, that abortion, the deliberate killing of an innocent human being, is a mortal sin... that if done with full consent and knowledge cuts one off from Our Lord... forever... unless repented of. She not only favors it, but think it is a constitutional right, and that it should be government funded. Yes, she thinks the government should take money from *everyone*, including those vehemently opposed to it, to pay for the deliberate killing of tens of millions of innocent human beings in America.

I have to question whether she really is "a practicing Catholic". She certainly doesn't seem to be trying very hard.

Your daughter was told to put her Bible away while reading it? No surprise, people have been told to put away ALL books when they are supposed to. Just because it is the Bible does not mean you have free reign to read it any time during the school day. Class time is class time, free reading time is free reading time. Under God has not been removed from the recital of any public schools, believe me all you misinformed dominionists would be up in arms about it. It'd be national news. Roger:
Anti-labor to you means "Union workers". Many Taxpayers are now against paying High union labor rates when there is sufficient capable workers here in America willing to earn a living baswed on what people can afford to pay.
(I am always amazed at how many Union laborers would demand to be paid $30 to $40 per hour , and then shop at those stores like SAM's or Aldi's expecting those workers to sell them cheaper products than a union store might sell.)

Anti-climate reform- is code for Solar panels , Volt cars and Government waste in jamming overpriced products that nobody could afford to pay. So we tax the Rich to make a $1,000 solar panel and sell it for $500. That's your version of anti-climate.
You just overlook the fact that only higher and higher taxes could make it work.
You obviously do not understand Tax credits COST ALL OF US.

Anti-Woman's rights--- What about Parent's rights? What about Taxpayer Rights?
Just why do Women gain a Right that others must honor.?
I believe the problem with Woman rights is that they do not have a right to expect Others to PAY for their right. I could give a hoot how any Woman conducts her lifestyle. Otherwise, we will soon need to recognize-Alcoholic's rights--Drug addict rights--Gang member rights--Weight loss rights---Drunken driver rights---
All under the umbrella of "medical care".

As for both tressafree and Jeff. You all have failed basic civics. Because you believe the woman has a RIGHT to her own body does not mean that you "support" abortion. McCaskill is personally against abortions. This is the United States of America, where each has freedom of religion and belief. Some people have different beliefs about abortion than others and we cannot force a particular religious persuasion on the rest of American society. When you seek to impose your moral code on the rest of society you are no less than an American Taliban. Just, instead of crusading for Islam to be the totalitarian law of the land, you wish it be Christianity. That, my friends, is not how our Founding Fathers designed this country. Also, Claire is not for tax-payer funded abortions, that is a lie. Who are you to judge her religion and relationship with God or commitment as a Catholic? To hell with all you pious Republicans, it always comes down to you trying to FORCE your narrow view of the world onto others. Even though Democrats could, they do not attack Romney for religion (like you do to Obama/McCaskill). Nobody ever said they didn't like Akin because he was ultra religious, etc etc. But you all ALWAYS have to insinuate about Democrats faith and their level of commitment to their creator and that is NOT your job. "You failed basic civics. Because you believe the woman has a RIGHT to her own body does not mean that you 'support' abortion"
-

The courts say that a man's right to swing his fist ends where his neighbor's nose begins

A woman's right to direct a doctor to swing his forceps around in her womb ends before he brutally twists the arms legs off of her helpless baby

-
"McCaskill is personally against abortions"
-

She has consistently & repeatedly voted in favor of abortion bills. Your defense of her sounds a lot like the tack Senator Stephen Douglas took in defending slavery in his debates with Abraham Lincoln http://bit.ly/PCiiSz

Lincoln said:

"When Judge Douglas says that whoever or whatever community wants slaves, they have a right to have them, he is perfectly logical if there is nothing wrong in the institution; but if you admit that it is wrong, he cannot logically say that any body has a right to do wrong." http://1.usa.gov/QfWRbN

Bottom line: No one has the right to deliberately kill innocent human beings, & that is exactly what an abortion is. We're deliberately killing more than 3,000 innocent human beings every day, often brutally so. McCaskill not only favors keeping that legal, but forcing even those vehemently opposed to it to pay for the slaughter via their taxes

She can't legitimately hide behind her "I personally believe it's wrong, but don't think I should impose my views on others" facade any more than Sen Douglas could

dwI9t2 The only one trying to force their views on people is you. McCaskill voted for Obamacare which forces religious organizations to kill babies or sterilize girls over 15 without a parent consent. McCaskill is NOT following her religion. She cannot pick only parts of her religion to follow. When you say "To hell with all you pious Republicans" YOU are passing Judgement and only God can do that. I am a Democrat and I believe in God. I voted for McCaskill the first time and I will not vote for her again. She took stimulus money through her husband which was meant for poor people and not rich SENATORS, belongs to a party that calls themselves Progressives (Communists), and at their convention had a IMAM give prayer not Christian. At their convention not only did they take Christianity and God away but they denied putting God back in the convention 3 times. Who else in the Bible denied Jesus three times. If you think the Muslim religion is good then you agreed with the killing, rape and dragging of an Ambassador through the streets? Burning of our embassies? Burning of our American Flag? Do you like the NEW AMERICAN FLAG our Democrat President is selling with his logo ( the only other historical figure that had his own symbol, flag, and salute like Obama was Hitler). Akin cared about babies that people like McCaskill encouraged to be killed. McCaskill is only out for herself and what she can get out of this country. A False Profit as the bible says in the end of days.

Gayla, let me tell you something about religion. No human has the right to tell me how I should interpret the Bible. That is between me and God. Not me and the pope, or the preacher, or the minister, or the pastor, or the clergy, or the Party, or you. And that is everyone's right, hence the separation of church and state. The minute you start making laws based not on ethics or reason, but on your particular interpretation of the Bible, is the moment we start to have a problem, because that Puritan BS just doesn't fly.

Would it be possible to focus on politician's voting records and policies while in office rather than attacking them based on religion?

No. I watched the debates yesterday McCaskill attacked first and quite often. I saw nothing more than the same ole' bull. I wanted to watch a debate or read what Representatives are going to do to change the situation that our Country is in. But NO! To the extent religion has been taken out of our Government over the years that were given to us by our Fore Fathers in the Declaration Of Independence "unalienable rights, among these are LIFE, LIBERTY and the pursuit of HAPPINESS. Until we get people who follow the Constitution and Govern for the people and not take from the people we need religion. Since our Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence with their belief in Religion, maybe we should go back and keep religion in politics. Maybe there wouldn't be such a division in classes of people, maybe there wouldn't be such a bad economy as Greed wouldn't be wide spread and envied. Jealousy wouldn't prevail along with competition. We would be considerate of other people's feelings, and the lawyers wouldn't be in control as our "Word" would be valuable.Maybe our Government would't take from the people and try to control us with less freedoms. The reason I am in Missouri is because it is the bible belt and there is religion here and the people don't act like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, or Washington D.C. People here have morals and standards and maybe politics could use a dose of Religion and not the parts of religion they want to exploit.

Everyone should read GAYLA's comments:
I now believe the crisis in Egypt and the Libya Killings of our Ambassador are not shown to the Public as local TV's constantly suppress the happenings in America and abroad. Continued support for this Failed President has no other explanations.
Constant going back to Bush is outright "Ignorance".
Anyone who would support this President is certainly not a true American.
Anyone supporting ALL people share in one anothers Medical cost "lifestyles" are immoral.
Aside from any Religious constraints.
McCaskill's votes have harmed all "morals" in this America.
Requiring ALL citizens to pay anothers Bills without regard to "ability" and affordablility is exactly why McCaskill should be fired.
Examample: Sandra Fluke is an individual who has enough money to pay for anything she desires. Forcing All to share in a "WOMAN's" choice lifestyle regardless of income is stupid and unfair to the rest of this country.
I urge all Catholic and Faith based woman to reconsider their party affiliation "Just this once". You will all eventually pay a price for your McCaskill vote.
McCaskill is for "National Immoral and Godless Democratic Party" Not Missouri's people. Her same-sex party platform can only Ruin the Family life of our children and grandchildren.
She will make this country "GODLESS" and "SOCIALISTIC"
We all will be "SLAVES" in working for the Powers in Congress and the Teachers in our Schools.
HEED THIS WARNING.

Gayla, I think these politicians see all of this as a game. They literally sell their souls to donors and when they get elected, they have to repay the favors.

If you and I were both trying to get the same job, and I spread some lies that caused you to not get the job, that's slander and I could be found liable in court.

Yet politicians say whatever they want with impunity. They can later offer an "apology" or a retraction, but the damage has already been done.

We do not live in a Democracy. Democracy is "mob rule". We live in a Constitutional Republic and I would love to hear this distinction made during the debates.

And this BS of doing an end-around the Constitution and Congress through executive order has to stop.

DW9t2 makes some rather confusing remarks.
Catholics-Republicans never did force anyone to accept our Beliefs.
You have it wrong. Catholics already had their own schools FULLY PAID by each and every Parish resident who chose that faith and "accredited Missouri Education".
Now along comes those "atheist?" like DW who do not have enough members to start their own "Whatever Religion" school.
Their answer is to simply Build their education school using Other peoples money.

Yep! Money that was used for our children's private-education is "Stolen" by "freeloaders like DW, right here posting as a Christian Hater.
So DW, here is all I ask of you.
WHY DON'T YOU FIND ENOUGH NON_GOD IMMORAL Thinkers and Buld your own "School". Now , if you are poor and needy, then , of course I would offer my share to see that you get an American Education. Like we do in our Helping society of normal Family oriented Christianity.
I just don't want my money used to support trash writers like you display on this site.

It's all this stupid bickering that has our country in this mess. Whoever does get elected needs to be flexible to some degree to make change happen. I dont care if your Republican, Democrat, Liberal........whatever!

I disagree curly. Our Founding Fathers felt that allowing people of differing viewpoints to do their bickering over the direction of the country in the public square. That's "the political process" they *fought* for.

I personally think that it was the "change" from our country's Judeo Christian moral foundation that has gotten "our country in this mess". For instance, we've outlawed posting the 10 Commandments on the walls of schools & public buildings. A poster saying "Thou shalt not kill" has been banished from the public square. But we've had to replace them with metal detectors to try and catch as many mass murderers as we can at the doors. Has that change really been in our best interest?

There's scripture all over Washington DC. It's found in and on the Capitol Building, the Jefferson Memorial, the Washington Memorial, the Supreme Court, the Library of Congress; both houses of Congress as well as the Supreme Court open their sessions with prayer; while this may no longer be a nation of believers, our nation was founded by people who believed in God and who acknowledged Him in their lives. To deny this and to try to cut the mention of God out of our lives is asking for trouble. We wll pay the consequences for it. When we started, in the late 60s and 70s, trying to replace God with "values" and secular humanism, things started falling apart, and it's gone downhill since then. We've lost our focus and we're paying the price.
