Should Mitt Romney Make Fighting Porn a Priority if Elected?
Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney has said he would vigorously crack down on pornographers if elected.
Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney insists his No. 1 job is fixing the economy, but a former Reagan administration anti-porn prosecutor says the candidate's campaign has assured him that he also will "vigorously" crack down on pornographers if he is elected president, according to a Huffington Post report.
And according to a Morality in Media release, Romney's campaign has told Morality In Media President Patrick Trueman that if elected, Romney would vigorously enforce federal laws prohibiting distribution of hardcore adult (obscene) pornography.
Now, federal obscenity laws prohibit distribution of hardcore, obscene pornography on the Internet, on cable/satellite or hotel/motel TV and in sexually oriented businesses and other retail shops. But those laws are not strictly enforced, the release says.
From the Huffington Post:
Trueman said he and another anti-porn prosecutor from the 1980s Justice Department, Bob Flores, met earlier this year with Alex Wong, Romney's foreign and legal policy director..
“Wong assured us that Romney is very concerned with this, and that if he’s elected these laws will be enforced,” Trueman told the website. ”They promised to vigorously enforce federal adult obscenity laws.”
Around the time Trueman says he received those assurances, Romney signed Morality in Media's anti-porn pledge along with Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum, whom he was still battling for the GOP nomination. Since then, he hasn't mentioned the issue very often.
The report goes on to say that Romney has promised that if elected president he would require every new computer be sold with a porn filter.
What do you think? Should fighting porn be a top priority for Mitt Romney if he's elected president? Or are there more important issues he should tend as Commander in Chief?

Seriously?
You have a couple of quotes from people who were assured by his campaign...?
Romney has a lot of problems, but this one is really thin. Can't you dig up a direct quote, or maybe find an issue with substance?
I don't like Romney, but this is just silly.

NO!!! His Constitutional job if ELECTED, is to ENFORCE THE LAWS AS WRITTEN.
Anything more may be unconstitutional.
Read the US Constitution, it will make you understand that elected officials can promise you anything but the Constitution limits their actions. Unless of course you don't believe in the Constitution.
It is imperfect, but we can AMEND it if needed. It is unconstitutional to change the definitions.

This is exactly why he will not be getting my vote! He already doesn't have his priorities straight. Save the money Romney, your wasting your time.

You won't vote for Romney on the basis that he has promised during his campaign to enforce our current laws? So because he answered a question about his position on an issue that is important to someone else his priorities aren't straight?

Stay out of people's bedrooms, enough is enough! Talk about a waste of efforts! Why not talk about tackling child porn, and making HARSH punishments for child molesters? These are the issues that seam important to me. And Elizabeth I am sure that there are 1 million reasons that Curly won't be voting for Romney. I have my own list too! This is just another stupid example of his backwords thinking!! Quit being so uptight and go enjoy a porno!

I'm not voting for Romney because he's announced he's going to seek yet another UNFUNDED tax cut for the wealthy. Republicans seem to like unfunded tax cuts, so they can then turn around and complain about deficit spending. If you agree that makes no sense; you could be a politician.

If Romney wins the election he will bring all his experience from running Bain Capital first he will bleed the county dry then he will sell what is left to the Chinese for a profit. It is the same thing he did whenever he bought a company.
