O'Fallon Bread Company Could Soon Add Drive-Thru

The O'Fallon City Council will hear the first reading of a bill that would grant a conditional use permit (CUP) for the construction.

If you've been to the O'Fallon Bread Company at 1300 Highway K around lunchtime, you've probably seen the long lines and crowded parking lot.  To eliminate some of the parking issues, property owners have submitted a request for a conditional use permit (CUP) to add a drive-thru to the restaurant. The O'Fallon Planning and Zoning Commission approved a recommendation for the CUP to the O'Fallon City Council, which will give first reading to the bill at Thursday evening's meeting.  According to the Planning and Zoning Commission report, city staff has received complaints from residents and businesses regarding the lack of parking within O'Fallon Pointe Centre. Update: Fast Food Workers Striking Over Working Conditions, Wages, Around St. Louis

An organized movement of strikes began in St. Louis and is spreading across the region. Employees at McDonald's in North St. Louis County, and Jimmy John's took to the picket lines Wednesday. Employees at 20 fast food locations will strike Thursday.

People peacefully gathered and marched in front of a Ferguson McDonald's Restaurant today. You could hear the group of about 100 chanting during the strike," We started from the bottom and now we're here; $7.35 just ain't fair." There was also, "We want change and we ain't talking about pennies." As well, a whole host of additional songs. But for all the people smiling, the subject at hand was serious. The crowd gathered as part of a movement to unionize fast food restaurants throughout the St. Louis Region. Employees at the Ferguson McDonald's, located at 9131 W. St. Charles County Department of Community Health and the Environment regularly inspects food service establishments throughout St. Charles County, except for within limits of St. Peters. The establishments begin with a score of 100 and points are deducted based on the severity of problems observed. According to the department's website, a low score does not mean the restaurant was unsafe on the day of the inspection. Eleven65 to Open in Time for Mother's Day

Eleven65 will open near the Highway K and Interstate 64 intersection in O'Fallon. The restaurant will rely heavily on local and organic food from area markets and vendors.

Eleven65, the new upscale restaurant announced for O'Fallon's Highway K and Interstate 64 corridor, will open in time for Mother's Day.  That's according to Feast St. Louis, which also reported that the restaurant will feature a seasonally rotating menu that leans heavily on fresh ingredients that are available at the time.  Eleven65 will operate out of the vacant building that was the former home of J. Buck's Restaurant, located between the Staybridge Suites and Holiday Inn Express. J. Espinos Under Construction on Bryan Road

The old Cappucino's location along Bryan Road will soon reopen as Señora Espiño's Taqueria.

A new Mexican restaurant in under construction in O'Fallon.  The old Cappucino's location at 840 Bryan Road will soon reopen as Señora Espiño's Taqueria. The owners of the original Espino's location inChesterfield are branching out to St. Charles County with the new location.  The O'Fallon location will feature a drive-thru and a bar. It will offer breakfast seven days a week, lunch, dinner and appetizers including, soups, salads, entrées and desserts. Earlier this week, crews worked to prepare the interior of the restaurant and a new Espiño's sign was displayed outside.  O'Fallon Patch will have more information about the opening as it becomes available. 

May Days Festival on WingHaven Boardwalk Rescheduled for Saturday

The event runs from noon to 3:30 p.m.

After a rainy weekend canceled plans to celebrate May Days in O'Fallon, the event is rescheduled for this coming Saturday, May 11.  May Days Festival is a family event held at the Boardwalk at Marketplace in WingHaven.  Parents can get to know local business owners by stopping by booths for free giveaways and children can enjoy bounce houses, face painting, games, clowns and live-music.  Also in the entertainment line up:
