Week 11 of the winter season is here and it brings plenty of rivalry games.  February begins this week and that means playoff season is right around the corner. State swimming and state wrestling are just a few short weeks away, but they aren't here yet. Before the playoffs can happen, the regular season has to wind down and that means rivalry games are popping up.  This week features city, county and school district matchups. The conference races are already starting to shape up, and that will continue this week. It's not quite the playoffs, but they're getting closer. The time off period is just about officially over for sports teams around St. Charles County. The holiday season comes to a close on Monday with the observation of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. After that day—a day some teams actually aren't taking off—school is back in session and the conference races are really beginning to heat up. Non-conference games still dot the schedule, but the conference games bring the most drama. All across St. Charles County, tournaments are starting. The fall sports season is just about over in the state of Missouri. Most fall teams in St. Charles County are already done playing, which means most schools are already thinking about the winter sports season. Despite recent higher temperature, winter sports are just around the corner. Most boys soccer playoffs start Monday, football playoffs start Wednesday and, to top it all off, practice can offically begin for wrestling and basketball on Monday.  It's going to be a busy week full of big games. Fall sports are just about done with this whole regular season nonsense. Football takes the field for Week 10 this Friday, the last week before the State playoffs. Boys soccer is playing the last week of regular season games before Districts begin next week. And then we have volleyball.
