Adopt a Pet: Meet Cookie Monster the Freedom-Loving Kitty

All Paws Rescue volunteers need help finding dogs and cats permanent homes.

Pets are available for adoption through , an O'Fallon based volunteer group working to save homeless dogs and cats.  All pets are kept in foster homes, where they receive the care they need to help prepare them for a permanent home.

All Paws is supported solely by private donations and fundraisers.  If you're interested in adopting an animal, you can browse their website or attend one of their weekend adoption events at area  stores. Last year they adopted out close to 300 pets.

This week's featured pet: Cookie Monster (Cookie for short)

Cookie's All Paws foster mom says:

"Losing a new home is harder on some cats than others. Pretty blueshell Tortoiseshell Cookie Monster is an affectionate, but freedom-loving kitty. Cookie Monster lived with many other cats and two dogs in an apartment with plenty of love, but not a lot of space since she was a baby. Recently, the apartment complex said that they needed a new home for these cats," she said.

"Cookie Monster came to my house and lived in a large Tokyo cage for a while. She has not been very happy and showed and her large teeth to me. When I started giving her more freedom, Cookie started being nicer to me, too. She was fine with my cats and my dogs and me, so I took her to the PetSmart Adoption Center today. She has reverted to "scarey kitty."

All Paws volunteers say they know Cookie will be OK and a loving kitty in a home where she can be free, but she doesn't like being in a cage. Cookie is spayed and current on her vaccinations. She has been chipped, but does not have her Feleuk or FIV.

Cookie's foster mom said: "If you have room for a free spirit, please check out Cookie Monster. She is currently at the Bridgeton Petsmart, but if she doesn't calm down, probably won't be there long, so stop by soon if you owuld like to see her!"
