Best Bets: 8 Fall Events for Families This Weekend

Check out these fun events happening across the St. Louis region.

Chili Contest: Consider yourself a chili-tasting expert? Vote for your favorite kind in the chili cookoff at Bluebird Park in Ellisville on Friday. The park is located at Manchester and Clarkson Roads, and chili will be dished up from 5:30 to 9 p.m. The event also includes live music, hayrides, a bonfire and children's activities.

Food Trucks by the Old St. Ferdinand Shrine: If you're craving some street food, plan to attend this foodie event featuring 10 food trucks at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 50 St Francois St. in Florissant.

16th Annual Florissant Old Town Fall Festival: This annual festival is packed with food, crafts, music, pumpkin decorating, a wine garden and more. Plan to attend from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13. The festival will run along 11 blocks of rue St. Francois, between Florissant Road and the Old St. Ferdinand Shrine.

Little Creek Nature Preserve Homecoming: Little Creek Nature Area is hosting  homecoming festivities on Saturday, Oct. 12, with lots of free family entertainment, including guided tours of the nature area’s trails, bird watching with Audubon Society experts, a scavenger hunt and refreshment. The event is at 2295 Dunn Rd., from 8 a.m. to noon.

EPC Classic Carfest: Dozens of vintage automobiles, trucks, motorcycles and other vehicles will be on display at the 12th Annual EPC Classic Carfest, on Saturday, October 12, 2013 on EPC's 10-acre parking lot at 3941 Truman Blvd., I-70 and Cave Springs in St. Charles.

Fun Family Evening featuring the Ugandan Orphans Choir: The Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles is hosting a fun family evening Oct. 11. featurin two performances from the Ugandan Orphans Choir, presented by Childcare Worldwide, encompassing authentic African tribal drumming, dancing and singing, as well as contemporary songs in English. Performances are at 6 and 7 p.m.

Sausage Supper: St. John United Church of Christ, 405 S Fifth St., Saint Charles is hosting their 8th Annual Sausage Supper & Roast Beef too! on Sunday, October 13, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in New Fellowship Hall. Tickets are $9 for adults, $5 for children. Call (636) 946-0961 to purchase. In the Market, find fresh sausage, bacon, and smoked pork chops for sale.

Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Vendor/Artisan Fair:  Mt. Zion UMC, located at 1485 Craig Rd. in St. Louis County near Creve Coeur, will host the fourth annual Vendor/Artisan Fair at 9 a.m. Saturday. There will be over 30 Home Party Plan vendors such as Uppercase Living, Longaberger Baskets, Miche, Discovery Toys, Origami Owl, Velata Chocolate Fondue, Organo Gold Coffee along with local artisans with handmade clothes for 18" dolls, handmade Christian greeting cards, handmade and vintage jewelry, Colored Glass Fusion plates, platters, bowls and much more.
