Eat Local: 88 China

Each week, Patch will feature a new restaurant near O'Fallon that's worth checking out.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, O’Fallon Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

— Craving chicken fried rice and crab rangoon? Well O’Fallon residents, rest easier tonight knowing that 88 China is just a few minutes away from your doorsteps.

Their chef specialties are unique and many of them include multiple meat (chicken, beef, pork), seafood (shrimp, crab, lobster) and vegetable combinations. The Happy Family includes lobster, scallops, jumbo shrimp, chicken, beef and pork, with assorted Chinese vegetables in brown sauce, with portions so massive, you will be eating Happy Family for a few days.

For those watching their figures, there is a lite Chinese food menu, which consists of mostly steamed plates. Lunch specials are available seven days a week, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Costing just under $5, the fiscally responsible will especially enjoy this side of the menu. Side items included with these dishes are rice (white or fried) and choice of wonton, egg drop or hot and sour soup, egg roll or crab rangoon.

88 China is located at 1326 Sunburst Drive, just across the street from the BP station at Bryan and Mexico Road. They are open Monday-Thursday: 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday: 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Sunday: 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. You can dine in or carry out. For those not wanting to brave the arctic temperatures of Missouri’s winter, you can have it delivered by calling 636-272-8855 or 636-272-8856.
