O'Fallon Woman Seeks Volunteers to Help Bake Cookies For Troops

Neighbors are welcome to help make treats for United States military men and women serving overseas.

Editor's note: Mary is no longer seeking help with baking at this time. O'Fallon Patch will update with more information about future opportunities as they become available.

An O'Fallon woman is sending homemade treats to military men and women overseas, but she needs a little help.

Mary Powers is baking cookies and plans to send them to the troops each month. She is looking for other O'Fallon residents who are interested in helping with the baking.

That's great Cathy! :) When my brother was overseas he and his friends loved receiving homemade goodies, so I know the troops will appreciate the efforts of Mary and all the O'Fallon volunteers!

I actually have bakers now that live outside of O'Fallon, so I am going to consider this an effort for the Greater St. Louis Area. I am also going to contact Channel 2 News and KMOX to let them know that we do need donations for shipping. Originally I had said that we didn't need donations. Before I contact them, I need to figure out if I should take checks or money orders made out to Treat the Troops. Treat the Troops is a national organization, and we are just a small chapter for them. They will reimburse us for shipping, but if we do that, we will deplete their shipping funds.

Treat the Troops is an awesome idea and you are to be congratulated. Please give us an idea of how much the shipping costs might be for your orders. The O'Fallon Patch could be a great way to get shipping donations, etc., I will certainly check into some contacts that I have for shipping help.

Jim: Please send your e-mail address to me and phone number @ mary831331@yahoo.com, and I will contact you soon. And please don't do anything about shipping costs yet. I need to discuss further with you.
