O'Fallon Animal Rescue Group Seeks Donations to Save Puppies

The O'Fallon based non-profit animal rescue group set up an online donation site to raise money for the medical treatment of two litters that have Parvo, a deadly disease for puppies.

O'Fallon based needs the community's help to save two litters of puppies in their care.

All Paws Rescue, Inc. is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in O'Fallon in 2003 when a group of volunteers identified a need for fostering and finding homes for stray dogs and cats.

Volunteers foster the pets in their own homes until they can find permanent families.

In September, All Paws rescued two litters of puppies that have Parvo, a deadly disease for puppies.

All Paws volunteer Shuma Chaudhuri said one set of puppies was admitted to the hospital over Labor Day weekend and they are now home recovering, but the second set of puppies are recovering slowly.

Chaudhuri said the treatment for Parvo is costly, so the organization has set up an online donation fund to help pay the medical bills.

"Part of being in the rescue world is knowing that you will be faced with the possibility of medical issues," Chaudhuri told O'Fallon Patch. "That is why donations are so important for groups like us.  This month, we have been hit extra hard, as we have two sets of puppies recovering from Parvo, dogs that are heartworm positive and who are starting their heartworm treatment, which is different from heartworm preventative, and we have a dog with pneumonia."

Anyone interested in making a donation to help with All Paws medical expenses can visit their website. Chaudhuri said the donations go directly into the rescue group PayPal account.

All Paws is supported solely by private donations and fundraisers.  If you're interested in adopting an animal, you can browse their website or attend one of their weekend adoption events at area  stores. Also, each Saturday afternoon, O'Fallon Patch features an adoptable pet from All Paws Animal Rescue, Inc. Last year the organization adopted out close to 300 pets.
