Update: Austin's Angels Hosts Benefit For St. Charles County Kids With Cancer

A trivia event is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Mark's Sports Bar and Grill, 4270 North Service Road, St. Peters.

A local family is working together to help children in St. Charles County who suffer with cancer.

Austin's Angels, a local non-profit, is hosting a trivia benefit this weekend.

The non-profit began as family and friends came together earlier this year to support a 6-year-old Cottleville boy who suffers from a brain tumor.

Austin Burns was diagnosed with Anaplastic Ependymoma, a grade three tumor, just after his first birthday. He is now under hospice care and attends SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center for occupational and speech therapy.

Austin's uncle, Randy Dean, said the family started Austin's Angels seven months ago, in hopes the donations will help him and other families in the same type of situation.

The group set up a tent outside of Walmart in June, offering Austin's Angels T-Shirts and baseball hats ranging from $10-$20. Some shoppers stopped to hand Dean a few dollars and handfuls of change on Thursday.

Dean said Austin, who turned six in August, has had five surgeries, but most days he remains strong.

"My nephew, he's a fighter. He doesn't want to give up, but there's some days he does," Dean said.

Austin's Angels is hosting a trivia night event this Saturday, Nov. 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Mark's Sports Bar and Grill, 4270 North Service Road, St. Peters.

The cost is $10 per person to participate in trivia. The event also features a live DJ, a $5 buffet and a cash bar. Attendees can also enter a 50/50 drawing.

Family-friend Sara Vanderpool said all proceeds of Austin's Angels Trivia Night will support St. Charles County children dealing with cancer.
