ACT II Theater Adult Improv Class

Adult Acting Class-Begins Tuesday, June 12th from 7PM-9PM and each Tuesday through July 17th (NO CLASS JULY 3rd): This class has been designed for students of all experience levels. Students will learn how to create a character and learn techniques that can be utilized in rehearsal and life. Using Landon’s personal E.R.L. method, exercises, scenes and monologues, everyone will become more comfortable with being vulnerable and develop the freedom to explore the art of acting and character development. Often rehearsal time is limited, so everyone will benefit from learning the artistry of acting from making physical and vocal choices to embracing your instincts and becoming more comfortable with being in front of an audience. We will also venture a bit behind the scenes and learn about tech theatre, directing, producing and the other elements that are part of the whole process of bringing a production to life. No matter what your interest or experience level is, you will definitely benefit from this class and the lessons that will be taught. Bring some friends and colleagues and enjoy a rehearsal environment that is liberating and allows you to have the time to explore!

Adult Improv Class-Begins Thursday, June 14th from 7PM-9PM and each Thursday through July 26th (NO CLASS JUNE 28th or JULY 5th): When most actors hear the word, “improvisation” they suddenly get very nervous and shut down. Well! There is no need for fear anymore.  This class will show you how the art of improvisation can be used as a valuable tool for character development in rehearsals. You will also learn some of the games and tricks that the pros use like those on “Whose Line Is It Anyway”.  Improvisation is all about “getting out of your head” and NOT stopping your impulses or choices. Students will learn how to use improvisational techniques and exercises to go beyond the script as they develop their character. You will also learn the tips and tricks of how to successfully play popular improv games and learn what it takes to use the art of improvisation for entertainment and comedic purposes. Using the “Yes…and” method, students will learn to GO with their impulse and not limit or restrict themselves as an artist. Just bring an open mind and the desire to have FUN and you will have all that you need to begin your improvisation exploration!
