O'Fallon Holds Auditions for a Christmas Comedy on Saturday

O'FallonTheatreWorks is looking for actors for their production of "A Dickens of a Christmas Carol: A Traveling Travesty in Two Tumultuous Acts."

invites you to show off your acting skills on Saturday at open auditions for A Dickens of a Christmas Carol: A Traveling Travesty in Two Tumultuous Acts. 

The Mark Landon Smith comedy, produced by Cultural Arts Coordinator Darren Granaas, requires four women between the ages of 16 and 60, and three men between the ages of 20 and 60.

Granaas said the story line follows an old English theater troupe struggling to put on their 15th annual farewell tour of the Charles Dickens’ story, A Christmas Carol. All chaos ensues when the company star fakes an illness and the understudy takes the stage.

"We decided to do a Christmas-themed production this year and run it in conjunction with the City’s Tree Lighting Ceremony and We’ve never done a Christmas production before and thought it would be a great opportunity."

Auditions begin at 1 p.m. in , at 305 Civic Park Dr. Granaas said no singing or dancing are required and he is looking for anyone with "an interest in acting and a good sense of humor."

Rehearsals start in mid-September and run 2-3 hours on Sunday afternoons and two nights a week, depending on the availability of the cast.  

The show is scheduled to be performed at City Hall on Dec. 2 – 4 and Dec. 9 – 11.
