Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! To celebrate reading and the literary contributions of Theodor Seuss Geisel, otherwise known as Dr. Seuss, we've put together a list of fun facts from thecatinthehat.org.
March 2 is also National Read Across America Day.
This year, the National Education Association, a group of more than 3.2 million educators who work to improve public schools, and several literacy and youth groups, are calling on book lovers around the nation to take up The Lorax, the popular Dr. Seuss children's book published in 1971 about the lovable creature who fights to save the environment.

Otherwise, here are the Seuss facts:
- Dr. Seuss was born in 1904 in Massachusetts. Today would have been his 108th birthday.
- He attended Dartmouth College, in New Hampshire, where he was the editor-in-chief of the school's humor magazine.
- His first book, And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, was rejected 27 times before finally being published.
- By the time he passed away in 1991, Dr. Seuss had written 44 children's books that have been translated into more than 15 different languages.
- His stories have been adapted into cartoon specials, movies and the Broadway musical Seussical.
- The popular Dr. Seuss book The Lorax, has been adapted into a movie that hits theatres today. Watch the trailer HERE or visit the movie website.
