O'Fallon Chamber Hosts 3rd Annual Trivia Night 

The O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce will host its 3rd Annual Trivia Night on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 in the O’Fallon City Hall gymnasium located at 100 North Main Street in O’Fallon. Doors open at 6 p.m. and trivia starts at 7p.m. Cost is $160 for a table of eight people and includes, 10 rounds of trivia, door prizes, a mulligan, beer and soda. You may also bring in your favorite snacks and drinks. City of O'Fallon Sign Code Revision:

The O’Fallon City Council recently approved changes to the City’s sign code:

  • Allows for additional “end-cap signage” for corner tenants when the façade can be seen from any roadway or parking lot. Previously, this type of signage was prohibited.
  • Permits larger directory signage for developments of more than 10 acres in size. This type of signage may be up to 20 feet in height and 225 square feet in sign area. Before this change, directory signage as limited to 12 feet in height and 150 square feet in sign area.

  • Allows for “secondary identification signage” related to the occupation, service, and/or product being sold at the site. This type of signage was not previously permitted.
  • Permits secondary directional signage within a project, site or development exceeding ten (10) acres in size.  These types of signs shall be designed to accommodate the names of businesses or buildings with directional areas.  These signs may be placed no closer than 50 feet to a public or private right-of-way and shall not exceed 28 square feet in area or 10 feet in height.  These signs are effective in guiding vehicle and pedestrian traffic through a large development.  They were not allowed previously.
  • Now allows for A-Frame or sandwich board signs to be placed on sidewalks no further than 20 feet from the storefront of a business to advertise their products and services without a permit. Signs must be placed so as not to disrupt sidewalk traffic and may only be placed outside when the business is open.
  • Establishes parking regulations for Class Three and above vehicles, step vans and trailers that are used primarily for signage. These types of vehicles are prohibited from parking in the spaces located closest to the right-of-way or property line. This issue was not previously addressed in the City’s sign code.
  • Establishes a new interchange district along the future Highway 364/Page Avenue extension. The City’s existing interchange district regulations will now apply in this area.

Mercy Health Plans Site in O'Fallon

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Mercy Health purchased 50 acres of land on the west side of Highway K in O'Fallon and plans to build a specialty center. The article states

The O'Fallon Chamber Board of Directors just approved this new event scheduled for February 2013. The chamber is looking for committee members to help pull off this first time event in a way that will make sure it is a success for years to come. The committee will hold its first meeting on Thursday, Sept. 6 at 8 a.m., regular committee meeting dates and times will be discussed at that time.
