Former Linens N' Things: What Do You Want to See Here?

Each week, we highlight a vacant commercial area and ask: what would you like to see move into this area?

Since this is your community, we want O'Fallon Patch to be a place where you can not only find out what's going on around town, but a place where you can share your thoughts and ideas with your neighbors.

Our feature "Visions for Vacancies" aims to help residents take an active role in planning and building their community. So each week, we'll highlight a vacant commercial area and ask: what would you like to see move into this area? If you know of an area you'd like to see highlighted, tell us in the comments.

Last week, we asked what you'd like to see in the vacant spot at 957 Waterbury Falls, former home of the . Readers suggested a a St. Louis Bread Company and a place that teaches Kung Fu.

This week, we are taking a look at 2255 Highway K, formerly home of the houseware store, Linens N' Things.

If it were up to you, what would you like to see there? What do you think would best serve the O'Fallon community in that spot?

How a Crate and Barrel or Container Store? REI? Trader Joes?
Heidi L. May 9, 2012 at 11:41 am
Trader Joes would be great!
Ina May 9, 2012 at 12:53 pm
Trader Joes sounds like a winner. I also thinks a "Ross" store that recently opened in Chesterfield Commons would do well. They are more prominent and popular
in the South.

Definetly TRADER JOES

Ina, Ross Dress for Less is actually in the process of opening a location in Wentzville. http://wentzville.patch.com/articles/ross-dress-for-less-in-the-works-for-wentzville Just thought you'd be interested in knowing since you suggested Ross for O'Fallon.

Trader Joe's is a good idea. Where is the closest one to O'Fallon?
Rachel Retzlaff May 9, 2012 at 04:25 pm
WHOLE FOODS MARKET. They have more selection than Trader Joe's.

There's one in the Chesterfield Mall outskirts.
1679 Clarkson Road Chesterfield, MO 63017 Get on 40 East Take exit 19B - Olive Blvd/Clarkson Rd Merge onto Chesterfield Airport Rd Turn right onto Clarkson Rd It will be on the right about a half mile down

I know, how about another furniture store? Or a mattress store? Or a church?
Seriously, K-Mart should look into buying out the whole block and put in a Super K-Mart. That place they're in now is KILLING them. Then again, as I think about it, the dock facilities are non-existent, and delivery parking is pitiful. So, maybe not. Actually, I don't see how ANY mass retailer is going to look at this spot because there are no decent intake amenities. There is a single fire door in the back. Poor design is going to keep this place, and the others in this strip, empty for a long time

This is an important opportunity for all residents who want to have input on Civic Park and theRead More changes that they want to see now that Civic Hall is gone. The men and women of the city council and parks department who are making these decisions need to hear from us.

She's on vacation at the moment. When she returns she'll still be here, but in a different role.Read More Instead of just working with O'Fallon, she'll be working with multiple Patch sites across St. Louis. While she's doing other things, Tammy Duncan and I will be posting often around here. Basically Jordan is still very much involved, but she just won't be writing as many stories.

Joe, any chance they have figured out how to port the past news stories over yet?
Joe Barker (Editor) June 3, 2013 at 09:58 am
@ Jim Pepper -- No word yet. Most of the stories came over just fine, but the stories from earlyRead More last week seem to be stuck. All I know is they are working on it.
