Friday Food Critic: Daddy Ray Burgers

Each week, we nominate a new restaurant for you to review. That's right, you're the local expert.

When it comes to restaurants, O'Fallon has plenty.

O'Fallon has some local places that many would consider community gems, some restaurants that aren't exactly mom-and-pop but are unique to the area and O'Fallon certainly have plenty of chains lining our main streets.

But what the city doesn't have have is a consistent food critic to tell us what's good and what's not.

That's where you come in.

We could throw some money at a professional food critic, but that's not exactly what Patch is all about. We'd much rather know the opinion of the fine folks that eat there day-in and day-out.

It's your community. You eat the food. You tell us if it passes the mark.

That's why we have The Friday Food Critic column, where each week we will put a different restaurant on the chopping block. You tell us how you feel about it, what dishes are good, who has the best drink specials and so forth.

This week's restaurant is Daddy Ray Burgers, located at 8814 Veterans Memorial Pkwy, O Fallon.

Daddy Ray Burgers opened earlier this week and we want to hear what you think!

At O'Fallon Patch, we believe your words of wisdom are better than any food critic.

What are you waiting for? Let the reviewing begin!

I was there opening day at 1:30 I took me an hour to get my food. I was the 19th order of the day, according to my ticket and they were out of buns?! Half of all the orders they called out, the hungry customer had already left. After waiting for nearly half an hour I was informed they only had wheat or pretzel buns left. I don't see this place being profitable any time soon. It was obvious from the start this place was a instant fail.

Drove by here earlier today and their message board said they are only open Monday-Friday from 11-3. Don't see how they can make it only being open 4 hours a day. I haven't even had a chance to give this place a try for this reason. Hopefully some day they will be open for dinner hours or maybe on Saturdays. This will be the only way I can comment on the food.

I asked for my buger "well done - no pink" and was abruptly informed that "ALL BURGERS ARE WELL DONE" - well - my burger was very very pink and cool in the center. Not worth the wait!!

Just ordered 2 cheeseburgers with fry's and onion strips...not impressed! The burgers are flavorless, actually takes flavor away from the burger. Doomed to fail!
