Padavan's NY Crowned First-Ever Munch Madness Champion

O'Fallon Patch reader Matt White filled out the winning bracket, correctly guessing 40 of the tournament's matchups correctly.

Patch readers have spoken—quite loudly, we might add—and when all was said and done, St. Charles' was crowned the first ever Munch Madness champion!

defeated O'Fallon's B. Hall's Family Grill in the Munch Madness finals. And while B. Hall's had more votes on the Patch website, flexed its social media muscle and mobilized its followers and friends to claim the victory.

is a restaurant and bar located in New Town. Padavan's menu offers burgers, pizza, pasta, chicken, sandwiches, wraps, steak and seafood. The restaurant has daily food and drink specials. Padavan's NY also features a sand volleyball pit, high definition television and a large outdoor patio that is open daily.

"Best family restaurant and bar in St. Charles," said , a Patch reader, during the tournament's voting period. "Not very big but the food is excellent and great service. A little bit of New York right here in New Town."

"My vote is for Padavan's," said , another Patch reader. "Way more than just an ordinary sports bar. The entrees are fantastic—not typical 'bar food' and they have a sushi roll 'The Padavan' that is to die for."

The final tally totaled nearly 300 votes across all three voting platforms—the website, Twitter and Facebook. received 176 of the votes compared to B. Hall's Family Grill's 120.

St. Charles County Munch Madness ran along the same lines as the much-hyped college basketball tournament, except it used St. Charles County restaurants instead of college basketball squads.

Sixty-four restaurants entered the field when the bracket debuted March 13. Readers picked which restaurants would advance.

In the Final Four, St. Charles' Padavan's NY defeated Lil' Mickey's Memphis Barbecue from St. Peters; and B. Hall's, of O'Fallon, defeated 54th Street Bar and Grill from Wentzville.

Padavan's breezed its way to the championship round, defeating St. Charles landmark restaurants such as Mother-in-Law House, Trailhead and Winery of the Little Hills.

Meanwhile, O'Fallon Patch reader Matt White filled out the winning bracket, correctly guessing 40 of the tournament's matchups correctly. White was the only entrant to correctly guess the championship matchup.

Congratulations to Padavan's and B. Hall's for making it to the finals, and Matt White for filling out the winning bracket! And a huge thanks to all of the Patch readers that participated in the event!

To all of those that voted and participated in Munch Madness, thank you. For those that have not been out to Padavan’s NY yet, please stop by I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. From the NY Pizza, Padavan Sushi Roll, Skyscraper Burger or the Penne Alla Vodka, there is something for everyone. I know this contest educated me about the many great places that St Charles Co. has to offer. Hopefully you will all try out some new places but of course give even more patronage to your favorite. Again, I thank you all for your support.

One thing that really sells Padavan’s is that those of us that live in New Town can just walk there. I am sure B. Halls is a great place too but on a Friday night I don’t want to deal with the traffic on HWY K.

Congratulations, Padavan's NY! Now, make sure you try to defend your MUNCH MADNESS Championship next year, because 63 others might want to win MUNCH MADNESS II, next year!

What I've loved about Munch Madness is that I've learned about so many new restaurants to try :) I hadn't heard of Bhalls before this.
