New Barbecue Restaurant Plans Opening at Old El Patron/Pizza Hut Site

Since the city passed a law in 2009 forbidding liquor sales withing 300 feet of a church, the permit will depend on support from O'Fallon Church of Christ.

O'Fallon's Planning and Zoning Commission will consider a request for a conditional use permit for liquor sales at S & S Bar-B-Que, which is planning to open at 8600 Veterans Memorial Parkway—the former site of El Patron mexican restaurant, and before than, Pizza Hut.

Owners Rick and Jeremy Sepulveda plan to open S & S as a  dine-in/carry-out restaurant with slight modifications to the interior of the building.

The hours will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday - Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday.

The smoker for the barbecue will be located behind the restaurant in the parking lot and will be roped off. More parking will be added by removal of a landscaped island in the northwest corner, but additional trees will be planted along the road.

Although El Patron sold alcohol, the city has since enacted an ordinance prohibiting liquor sales within 300 feet of a church or school. O'Fallon Church of Christ is 200 feet from the site, so the permit will not be issued until the church submits a letter of support.
