O'Fallon Company Launches Campaign to Finance New Fan-Cooled Lawn Chair

The team that introduced the Pet Cot to the world is hoping that an internet fundraising site can help them finance their new product.

No matter what you do, spending time outdoors during a St. Louis summer is often an uncomfortable proposition. At its worst, it's a sweaty, miserable, mosquito-plagued experience.

But a team of St. Charles County entrepreneurs headquartered in O'Fallon are determined to change that.

The team that brought you the Pet Cot has turned their sights on creating a fan-cooled, battery-operated lawn chair. They call their invention The Traveling Breeze, and they've enlisted a website called Kickstarter to help them fund their new endeavor.

Kickstarter is a privately owned company that utilizes "crowd funding" to finance creative projects.

The Kickstarter page for the Traveling Breeze allows investors to read about the project and pledge as little as a dollar toward production of the project.

As of this writing, almost $3,000 had been pledged toward a goal of $25,000 for the Traveling Breeze project.

If the project doesn't reach its goal by Aug. 24, the project will not be funded.

“Everyone who sits in this chair is absolutely blown away by the experience, so we’re excited to bring it to the backyards of as many people as possible,” said Traveling Breeze President Greg Squires, who lives in St. Peters.

Intrigued? Pledge $100 and the team promises you a free Traveling Breeze chair for your very own.

Pledge $500 and you'll get one with a personalized, engraved armrest tag—and an umbrella. That way you can be cool while you sit in the shade.
