No Plans For Trader Joe's O'Fallon Location in Near Future

Several O'Fallon Patch readers said they'd like to see the grocery store in the city, and the company is taking the suggestions to their real estate department.

Several  residents have expressed an interest in seeing a Trader Joe's closer to home, but they may have to wait awhile.

Each week, O'Fallon Patch asks readers what businesses they'd like to see in town, in a feature called "Visions for Vacancies." The grocery store chain is one of the most popular suggestions.

According to the Trader Joe's website, stores feature employees in Hawaiian shirts and "innovative, hard-to-find, great-tasting foods." The website also says the the grocery store started as a small chain of stores in 1958.

The Trader Joe's closest to is located at 1679 Clarkson Rd. in Chesterfield. O'Fallon Patch reached out to store to see if there were any future plans of expanding to the St. Charles County-area.

A customer relations employee  said this is not an immediate plan, but they will not rule it out for the future.

"Unfortunately, at this time we do not have any confirmed plans for a location in this area. However, we keep track of all the feedback we receive and have forwarded your suggestion to our Real Estate Department for future site consideration," said Nikki, of Trader Joe's Customer Relations Department, in an email on Tuesday.

You can contact Trader Joe's with location requests on their website.

O'Fallon Patch asked Facebook fans on Tuesday: Where they do you do most of your shopping? Would you be likely to check out a local Trader Joe's?

Jessica Strassner McMullen said: "I love Trader Joes! I used to live in Brentwood and had one less than 5 minutes from me. That was the main place I shopped. When I moved out to OFallon I had Trader Joes withdrawl! I just shop at local stores now. If im near a Joe's I'll stop."

Kimberly Signaigo Gillette: "Definitely! I always buy double when I go to TJ in the valley...if I had I one in my regular path I'd probably be there a few times a week!"

Allison Stephans O'Brien" "I mostly stick to the stores in O'Fallon. I go to Trader Joes in chesterfield once every couple months. I just don't have time to make the trip very often."

Kay Ferguson Jinks: "No I won't..there a bit to expensive for my blood."

Erin Tierney: "I would definitely be there weekly if they put one in O'Fallon!"

Becky Gleason Schwartz: "I shop schnucks, Walmart, arts produce. Yes I would shop trader Joe for sure! I won't travel any distance to shop trader joes but if one was in ofallon, is be there weekly!"

Lindsey Stipes: "Love Trader Joe's...would def. shop there more if it was closer!!"

forget Trader Joe's, they have been snubbing St. Charles County for years! and for that matter forget Whole Foods. Try luring an East Coast grocery chain called Wegmans! I was in DC recently and went to the National Mall, but the thing I remember most about that trip was the Wegmans!!

Trader Joe's should pull out of the St. Louis area completely. If they can't get a place in St. Charles County, they shouldn't do business in St. Louis at all. I urge everyone to boycott Trader Joe's.
