Two Shamrocks Public House Opens Wednesday in O'Fallon

The restaurant is located off of Highway K at 3449 Pheasant Meadows, former home of K Pub and Grill.

A new Irish pub opens on the south side of on Wedneday.

is located off Highway K at 3449 Pheasant Meadows, the former location of .

Co-owners John Harris and Gordon Reiter, both of Irish descent, decided on the name because they say, "Two shamrocks are better than one."

Harris, of Chesterfield, who also owns John P. Fields Pub and Restaurant in Clayton, said he was drawn to the area by Dave Mitchell, who opened both and the in O'Fallon. He said Mitchell convinced them O'Fallon was the place for their pub.

"It's such a growing area and so many fantastic people are out here," Harris said.

Harris said Two Shamrocks appeals to a wide demographic.

"We think we’ll have a little something for everybody," he added. "Our big thing is, I know we’ll have good food, we don’t want to be anything fancy."

Two Shamrocks features five flat screen TVs, where Harris said they'll make sure to show sporting events--but he said Two Shamrocks is not really a sports bar.

"It's a place where guys can come in after golf and have a few beers or for a family to come in with their kids," he said.

Two Shamrocks also has a dining area for parties that seats 8-10 people. Harris said this is called the "Hooley Room," which is gaelic for "Party Room."

Patrons of Two Shamrocks can expect large portions, according to Harris. The menu features signature items including the Big Beef and Boursin, piled high with cheese.

A few traditional Irish menu items include corn beef and cabbage made from scratch and Irish nachos, with potato chips topped with sweet sauteed onions, fire roasted peppers and ground beef.

Harris said eventually, Two Shamrocks will have a smoker and offer smoked trout, an Irish inspired item he says will set them apart from other pubs.

The pub's drink menu features Guinness Stout, Harp, Killians, Magners Cider, wine by the glass and a wide array of Irish whiskey.

Harris said you won't likely hear "no" very often at Two Shamrocks Public House.

"We want to be the friendliest place in O town," he said. "We want to make people feel welcome."

Two Shamrocks Public House opens Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 11 a.m.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Monday-Saturday and 12-10 p.m. on Sunday.

We'll give Two Shamrocks a real test on wednesday night...My one buddy is from London, England, my second buddy is from Glasgow, Scotland and my grandparents are from Dublin, Ireland. We'll give them a good test to determine if they're the "Real Thing"....

Two Shamrock's was 100% better than I thought that it would be...and I thought that it would be pretty good. Great time with my buddy. We are both fussy and we were thrilled with the beers on draft, and of course, we had our guiness. It was poured perfectly. The employees are clearly seasoned veteran's...this was opening day and you would think that they had been there for 20 years. A warm welcome when we entered by a smiling employee...escorted me to a nice table. The place was packed....at least 80 people there and they were all smilin', laughin', eatin', drinkin' and havin' fun. Plenty of knowledgeable bartenders, the waitresses were fantastic. And, get this, Gordy is one of the owners and he made us feel like a million bucks. My friend remembered Gordy well from the time that he worked at Annie Gunn's...Oh yes, what a menu...too good to explain...Our meals were perfect...It looks great inside, it was loud but heck, there were alot of people in there. I plan to go once a week with friends. Top Place....Go there....You will definitely go back.

My buddy and I returned for the second Wednesday to Two Shamrocks....Wow...Even better than opening night. Greeted cheerfully at the front door, escorted to our favorite table, our waitress remembered us and what we ordered to drink the previous week, Gordy came up to us immediately and made good on his word for our next two beers being on the house, we sampled some amazing beef from their new smoker...We will go once a week....It is our duty!!!!

Good Place to hang out and have a beer with friends. Good beer selection. Don't understand why a Bud Select is 3.75 and a Bud or Bud Light is BOGO on Happy Hour? Food is outstanding!

Thanks for the comment Grant! What do you recommend ordering from the food menu?
Heather September 12, 2012 at 04:45 PM
Showed up on a monday at 11:40 and the lights were off and doors were locked. Thought they opened at 11:00? Was going to attempt to order again and pick up but was unable to find a phone number. Dont think I'll be going there again anytime soon.
Gordon Reiter September 15, 2012 at 07:10 PM
Heather, So sorry!....As we continue to work at "getting it right", we needed to change our Monday schedule ONLY. We will open at 5 pm every Monday for pre-game dining, bar specials, and Monday night NFL, of course. I am sorry that we missed you by changing schedules without notice, and I hope that you will give us another chance. Please let us know when you do visit so that I may personally meet you, apologize, and make things right. Our number: 636-294-6555 Thanks, Gordon Reiter and John Harris, Two Shamrocks Public House, O'Fallon, MO
