SunRise UMC holds 2nd Annual Christian Hands Dental Clinic.

SunRise UMC O’Fallon, Mo hosted its second Christian Hands Dental day on Saturday November 17th, 2012.

From the arrival of the first patient to wait in line at 9pm on Friday to the first exams beginning at 6:30am to  the final patient finishing treatment at 6pm on Saturday 150 individuals from around the metro St. Louis area received a total of 317 dental procedures with an estimated in-kind cost of approximately $94,000 .

The dental day is spearheaded by SunRise dentists Dr. Paul Moore (New Melle Dental Clinic) and Dr. Jim Fetsch (Deer Creek Dental – O’Fallon) who along with members of their staff and a handful of other local dentists donating their time, talents, and resources to provide dental care to folks from within the community who otherwise would not be able to afford routine dental procedures.

Volunteers from SunRise transformed the main lobbies of the church into areas for patient registration, initial exams and x-rays, and waiting room complete with doughnuts for breakfast and soups for lunch. Patients were then transported 8-10 at a time by bus from SunRise to the Deer Creek Dental office (1 mile) for the actual procedures and then transported back to SunRise for final processing.

In total over 100 folks volunteered from within the local dental community and from the SunRise family to help make this second dental day a huge success.
