Election Filing Ends Tuesday

Candidate filing for the April 3, 2012 elections ends Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Fort Zumwalt School District

Two positions are open on the . Vice President Barbara Story and board member Mike MacCormack’s terms end in April. 

Candidates may file at the superintendent's office located at 110 Virgil Street until 5 p.m. on Tuesday. 

Qualifications: 

• Must be a citizen of the United States 
• Must be a voter of the district
• Must be a resident of Missouri for a minimum of one  year preceding the election.
• Must be at least 24 years old
• Must be eligible to hold office in accordance with Missouri law and not serving a sentence or period of probation for a felony or a crime that if committed in Missouri would be a felony
• Must never have pled guilty been convicted under Missouri law or the law of another jurisdiction of a felony connected with the exercise of the right of suffrage
• Must not be registered or required to be registered as a sex offender under Missouri law
• Must have filed all required campaign disclosure reports for all previous elections in which you were a candidate and have paid all assessed fees by the Missouri Ethics Commission, if applicable.

St. Charles Community College Board of Trustees 

Two six-year terms and one two-year term on the are on the ballot.

The terms up for election are currently held by:

Six-Year Terms

• William R. Pundmann, who was elected to a six-year term on April 2006. He became president of the board in April 2010.
• Jean Ehlmann, who has been a board member since 1994 and was re-elected to a six-year term in May 2006.

Two-Year Term

• William Lohmar, who was appointed to the SCC Board of Trustees in January 2011, replaced his son, Timothy Lohmar, who was elected as a judge in Missouri’s 11th Judicial Circuit. Lohmar’s appointment ends in April 2012, and a candidate is needed to fulfill the remaining two years of Timothy Lohmar’s term.

SCC Board of Trustees Candidate Requirements:

• Must be a citizen of the United States
• At least 21 years of age
• Must be a registered voter in the district for one calendar year preceding the election
• A candidate must never have been convicted of or pled guilty to a felony or misdemeanor under the federal laws of the United States of America

Interested candidates must file at the Office of the President, Room 2104, Daniel J. Conoyer Social Sciences Building at St. Charles Community College, 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Dr. in Cottleville. The office is open until 4 p.m. on Tuesday. 

O’Fallon Fire Protection District

The director position on the  Board is up for election. Current board director Dave Hinman’s term ends in April 2012. The board director serves a six-year term.

Candidates can file at O’Fallon Fire Protection District Station 1, 119 East Elm St. until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17. 

Qualifications:

• Must be a citizen of the United States
• Must be a voter of the district at least one year prior to the election
• Must be at least 25 years old
• Must not have been convicted of or plead guilty to a felony under state law
• Is not employed by any fire district or ambulance district
• Does not hold any lucrative office or employment under the state or any political subdivision
• Must not be delinquent in payments of any state  income taxes, personal property taxes or real property taxes in their place of residence or past corporate officer of any fee office that owes any taxes to the state, other than taxes which may be in dispute
• Must complete a Personal Financial Disclosure Statement and file the form with the Missouri Ethics Commission and a copy with the O’Fallon Fire Protection District’s Custodian of Records
• There is a $10 filing fee.

 City of O’Fallon

There are no positions on  up for election in 2012. City Clerk Pam Clement said the city’s charter implements a three-year election cycle. The next city election will be April 2013.

On Thursday, Jan. 12, O’Fallon City Council approved Mayor Bill Hennessy's motion to appoint Michael Snowden to fulfill the rest of Mark Perkins’ term ending in April 2013. Perkins  at the Nov. 17 council meeting due to his acceptance of a new job. He served six terms on the council and his resignation was effective Dec. 31

and took his seat on the council on Thursday, Jan. 12.
