Sign Up For RSC Fiesta Run/Walk and Fitness Festival

The entry fee through May 4 is $20 for ages 14 and younger and $25 for ages 15 and older.

is hosting some family Cinco de Mayo fun this weekend with the RSC Fiesta 5K Run/Walk.

Ty Joyce, recreation fitness specialist, said proceeds from the event held on Saturday, May 5 at the will benefit O'Fallon parks.

"We have had our 5K annually for about the last five years, but this is the first year for the Cinco de mayo 5K!" Joyce said.

This year, participants are also encouraged to enter a Cinco de Mayo costume contest. Joyce said participants are welcome to wear sombreros, ponchos or any other gear that represents the spirit of Cinco de Mayo. Prizes will be awarded for for the top three costumes.

The entry fee through May 4 is $20 for ages 14 and younger and $25 for ages 15 and older.

Race day registration will be $25 for ages 14 and under, and $30 for ages 15 and up, and T-shirts are not guaranteed to be available to race day entrants.

The run/walk begins at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. Following the run, the RSC Fitness Festival runs from 9 a.m. to noon.

This fiesta inspired event is free and features:

  • Cinco de Mayo refreshments
  • Kids activities including: a rock wall climb, inflatables, face-painting and a balloon artist
  • Health-related activities
  • Free use of the Renaud Spirit Center’s recreational facilities with swimming from noon to 6:30 p.m.
  • Free drawings for an RSC membership and monthly passes.
  • Annual memberships available at 10 percent off.
