Mom Files Lawsuit After Daughter Cut in the Eye With Slap Bracelet

A slap bracelet, a popular toy amongst children, is at the center of a lawsuit in St. Charles County.

An O'Fallon mother of a 5-year-old girl has filed a series of lawsuits in St. Charles County Circuit Court after her daughter cut her eye while using a children's slap braclet, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

According to the report, Sophia Sylvester of O'Fallon, Mo., was playing with the bracelet in March 2011 when the metal piece came out of its protective casing and cut her left eye, said the family's lawyer, Alvin Wolff Jr.

Sophia's mother, Amanda Sylvester, filed suit recently in St. Charles County Circuit Court against Walgreen Co., where the bracelet was purchased; the distributors of the bracelet, Nova Trading Inc. of Industry, Calif.; and TNT Marketing Inc. of Grand Haven, Mich.
