According to the National Weather Service, total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible.

O'Fallon Director of Street Division Kenneth R. Hammell said the majority of the city streets were in good condition as of 6 p.m. on Thursday.

"But there are areas that are elevated and exposed to the strong winds that we experienced today, which blew snow onto the wet pavement allowing things to freeze up," he added.

Hammell said O'Fallon crews have:

  • Plowed, treated and cleared all arterials (isolate areas where snow is blowing back out and refreezing)
  • Plowed a pass in both directions and applied salt to the residential streets
  • Are now going back and readdressing snow pack due to traffic and refreeze areas due to blowing snow
