O'Fallon's Blood Drive to Benefit Local Hospitals

Blood drive is Friday, Jan. 18, between 11a.m. and 3 p.m.

Information provided by the City of O'Fallon.

Can you help save a life or three? If you are at least 17 years old and healthy, please donate blood on Friday, January 18, between 11a.m. and 3 p.m. at the O’Fallon Municipal Centre (City Hall), 100 North Main Street, O’Fallon, Missouri 63366. O’Fallon’s “National Volunteer Blood Donor Month Whole Blood and Platelet Drive” is co-sponsored by the City of O’Fallon and the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center. The drive will collect donations of whole blood and platelets or double-red blood cells.

“During winter, the need for blood donations becomes increasingly critical, with fewer people donating around the holidays or because of cold weather,” said Kathy Halstead, Manager of Volunteer Services. “Taking a few minutes to donate whole blood can help as many as three people survive a life-threatening trauma or health condition. Or consider a platelet or double-red cell donation, which is especially important to surgical patients and those with cancer or chronic blood disorders.”

Refreshments will be served immediately following donations. Donors must show a photo I.D. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments can lessen the waiting time and help with staffing, especially for platelet and double-red cell donations.
