O'Fallon Teen Struck By School Bus Thursday Afternoon

Police say the teen suffered minor injuries after being hit by a bus while riding his bike illegally through a crosswalk at Bryan Road.

An O'Fallon teen suffered minor injuries after a school bus struck and knocked him off his bike at Bryan Road and Great Warrior Drive on Thursday afternoon, according to O'Fallon Police.

Sgt. Mike Plum said a 17-year-old boy illegally entered a crosswalk without pressing the pedestrian button. He said when the school bus began turning right on a green light, the driver did not see the teen. The bus hit the 17-year-old, knocking him to the ground.

Plum said the teen suffered minor injuries, with no broken bones or head trauma. He was transported to St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake Saint Louis. Plum said the bicyclist was coherent and speaking to O'Fallon Police dispatchers on his cell phone before he was taken to the hospital.
