Open House for New Interstate 64/US Route 40/61 Missouri River Bridge Is Tonight

MoDOT will hold open house at Troop C headquarters in Weldon Spring.

ST LOUIS – Residents, businesses and commuters interested in the new Interstate 64/US Route 40/61 Missouri River bridge are invited to attend a public hearing from 4-7 p.m. today at the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop C headquarters in Weldon Spring.  

MoDOT staff will be available to discuss the property needs, economic and social effects and environmental issues being addressed with the new bridge, known as the Daniel Boone Bridge.

The meeting will be an open house, so the public is welcome to attend at any time between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. The Troop C offices are located at 891 Technology Drive, Weldon Spring, MO  63304, near the Route 94 and I-64 interchange.

To reach the office, take I-64 westbound to the Missouri Research Park exit and follow the north outer road called Technology Drive until it dead ends at the Patrol offices. Or from Route 94, take Siedentop Road to Technology Drive and turn right. Technology Drive ends at the Patrol office parking lot.

The $125 million project will replace the existing westbound Daniel Boone Bridge, which was built in 1935. The project is funded to start in summer 2012. It will be completed using Design-Build contracting.

MoDOT will start the procurement process in early 2012 with selection of the contractor in mid-summer. The competing contractor teams will submit their proposed design of the new bridge and their construction schedule.

Written statements from the public provided at the meeting and online at will be accepted until Monday, Oct. 31.

Written statements and the public hearing exhibits will be made a part of the public hearing transcript to be presented to the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission for final approval of the preliminary plans for the bridge.
