Adrenaline Explosion Cheerleading Showcase

Adrenaline Explosion Cheerleading is hosting a showcase on Sunday, October 7, 2012, at 3pm.   AEC has cheer squads for ages 18 months and older for people of all abilities, boys and girls. They are equipped and able to include those with disabilities both physical and intellectual.

AEC was started by Sara, then a 16-year-old cheerleader for Francis Howell North who had a passion to make sure that others, like her brother, could enjoy the physical and social benefits of cheer regardless of their disabilities. She is now a freshman cheering on scholarship for Lindenwood University and has recently been asked to serve on the national board for special needs cheerleading.

The BOMB squad is a squad specifically designed for individuals with disabilities, and several of our area kids are members of the squad (both from St. Charles County and other metro counties).  AEC holds practices at Chance's Pride Gym in O'Fallon, and they've invited those who are interested to come for a showcase to see how their squads perform.  Any families with a special needs child is then invited to stay for supervised and buddy-assisted cheer, tumbling, and playtime. (Chance's Pride is at 827 Midpoint Dr. in O'Fallon, just off Veteran's Memorial Pkwy between Bryan Rd and K)

Sunday, October 7, at 3pm, the AEC squads will demonstrate their competition routines, featuring the BOMB, TNT, and SWAT squads.  The AEC leadership will share a little about how the program works and the benefits of it to those who participate.  Then from 3:30pm - 5:30pm kids and sibs (ANY age with disabilities, sibs up to age 17) will have the opportunity to participate in a practice time/play time for just $5 donation per child, with structured games and activities, circuit tumbling around the gym (with appropriate physical restrictions or limitations per the parent request), supervised by the AEC leadership and many teen buddies who are a part of every BOMB squad practice. Parents are welcome to stay and watch OR you can go out for a bit of "parents only time"!

This is sure to be a really fun afternoon!  I'm excited that AEC has offered to do this for our community!  Feel free to invite family and friends to come and check it out as well.

We DO need to know how many will be attending so that we can properly provide buddies and plan for space and activities.  Please RSVP by 9/24 with how many will be attending and the ages of the kids or individuals with DS/disabilities.

There are more details being firmed up, including something yummy at the end of the afternoon!  More on that soon!  But make sure to save the date NOW on your calendar and plan to come and enjoy a fun afternoon!

Let me know if you have any questions, please Contact Angela Schmitt @ 636-248-0386 to RSVP or with questions/concerns.  We want this to be something that all of our families can participate in and enjoy!
