Two Flags - One Meaning - It Was A Special Day For Our Vietnam Veterans

A unique ceremony to honor our Vietnam Veterans produced a unique flag photo that represents what the remembrance of Vietnam is all about

Some days are just meant to be special, and so it was on 11-11-07 at the Veterans Walk in O'Fallon.

A very special tribute and thank you was offered by the City of O'Fallon to the many Vietnam Veterans who live amongst us in O'Fallon and surrounding cities.  As it is with all veterans, they will talk very little about their experiences in war, and so it was with the Vietnam Veterans that were honored at the Veterans Walk on a rainy, then sunny, then rainy again ceremony.

The turnout of veterans was a good one, with over 50 men and women who fought an unpopular war and returned with little fanfare and much scorn. Was their treatment after the war correct?  Of course not.  Was it time for O'Fallon to honor and thank them?  Of course.

And thank them they did with a wonderful ceremony that will never be forgotten by all who attended.

One of the unique events of this "at long last" tribute to our Vietnam Veterans happened during the time that photographs of each veteran were taken.  The perfect blending of the American Flag and the POW/MIA flag took place during this time and the photo is shown here with a series of our photos that took place that day.

The next opportunity to honor the men of women of our armed forces will be on Memorial Day, May 30th at 11 a.m. at the Veteran's Walk in O'Fallon.

Take this short time out of your busy schedule to remember those who gave the ultimate gift to our country, their life.  It will be a fitting and honorable tribute that every resident of O'Fallon would appreciate.

Our veteran's will be there - you should be there too with your family and friends.
