Friday

Amazing Owls at Powder Valley Nature Conservation Center. Some of our Missouri owls stick around all year, and are especially vocal in the winter months. We’ll discuss some of their amazing adaptations, dissect some pellets to see what they’re eating, and take a hike to see what they’re saying! Ages 7+

Bamboo for Kids!  at The Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts. Learn about and make art together as a family! Build forts from recycled materials with Perennial. Join Jacob Alsach, instructor from the Folk School at KDHX for a morning of singing and dancing to classic children's songs. Snacks provided.

Feast & Flick at City of Ballwin - Parks & Recreation. Dinner and a movie? Friends will enjoy a night meal (pasta) followed by a fun movie.

Storytelling at the Missouri History Museum: FOREST FRIENDS  at Missouri History Museum. Come hear stories about deer, owls, and other wonderful woodland critters! Programs are held Fridays at 10:30am and Saturdays from 10am-12:30pm. Children also enjoy a hands-on craft. Free!

Wizard of Oz starring Ballet Memphis at Dance St. Louis . A journey down the yellow brick road has led Dorothy and her beloved trio of friends to the stage in a new adaptation of the family favorite, Wizard of Oz. Performances Jan 24-25 at the Touhill Performing Arts Center.

Sid the Science Kid: The Super-Duper Exhibit! opens at The Magic House. In this exhibit, kids will have the opportunity to become scientists in training as they join Sid on his many scientific adventures. Through fun, hands-on activities, kids will use scientific tools and thinking to explore the world around them.

Fete de Glace ... Ice Carving Competition at Greater Saint Charles Convention & Visitors Bureau . Fete de Glace is coming to the streets of St. Charles January 25! Over a dozen ice carvers bring the art of ice carving to life with chain saws, chisels, grinders & more! Free family fun for the whole day!

Once Upon a Mural at Kirkwood Public LIbrary. Join us for the unveiling of KPL’s new Fairy Tale Mural. Reception to follow.

Family Program: Bullying Prevention at St. Louis County Library - Thornhill Branch. Free Bullying Prevention Program at SLCL-Thornhill Branch, presented by ATA Martial Arts. Appropriate for children ages 4-12 and their parents.

Eagle Watch and Hike at Fort Belle Fontaine at St. Louis County Parks and Recreation. Visit with a live eagle and other birds of prey from the World Bird Sanctuary from noon until 2pm. Refreshments will be served.

Mo Willems Elephant & Piggie Party!  at St. Charles City-County Library - Library Express at WingHaven®. Meet Mo Willems favorite characters--Elephant and Piggie! Stories, songs & more. Bring a camera for a photo with Elephant & Piggie. Free!

Backhandspring Clinic at St. Louis Spirits Gymnastics Club. Interested in Cheerleading? Come and work on your tumbling.

COCA Presents 2013-2014: Swallows and Amazons at COCA-Center of Creative Arts. COCA Theatre Company (CTC) presents Arthur Ransome’s Swallows and Amazons, adapted for the stage by Helen Edmundson, with songs by Neil Hannon.

Family Sundays at the St. Louis Art Musuem! You’re invited to the Museum every Sunday afternoon for hands-on art activities and a lively 30min family tour through the galleries. January's family-friendly activities will focus on the theme, "Walk Like an Egyptian."

Breakfast with Sid the Science Kid at The Magic House. Enjoy a delicious breakfast, get your picture taken with Sid, participate in a fun activity, have The Magic House all to yourselves and enjoy some private playtime in The Magic House’s latest exhibit, Sid the Science Kid: The Super-Duper Exhibit!

Homeschool Explorations: Mask-erade at St. Louis County Library - Jamestown Bluffs Branch. Make Jamestown Bluffs Branch a partner in your home school programming as we explore the topic of masks in different cultures. Ages 5-12. Registration is required. Free!

Jungle Jam: Preschool Gymnastics Competition at St. Louis Spirits Gymnastics Club. On March 29th, kids will get a chance to put on a show for their friends and family!

Art @ Your Library: Celebration of Circus at St. Louis County Library - Bridgeton Trails Branch. Bring your little monkeys to enjoy this interactive circus experience: juggling and circus activities, a high energy interactive reading of "You See a Circus, I See...", and a performance by a real-life professional circus performer. Ages 3-6. Free!

Happy New Year at St. Louis County Library - Weber Road Branch. Chinese New Year falls on January 31. Celebrate the beginning of the year of the horse with crafts based on this traditional Chinese celebration. Ages 5-12. Registration required. Free Event!

 

Wednesday 

Knitting for Tweens at St. Louis County Library - Daniel Boone Branch. Would you like to learn the basics of knitting? If so, this series of classes is for you. All supplies are furnished. Limited to eight. Ages 10-12. Registration required. Free!

Wednesday Play & Ride at The St. Louis Carousel at Faust Park . Start your Wednesdays off right at the St. Louis Carousel! Enjoy going back and forth from great activities in the playroom to unlimited rides on the carousel between 10am - noon. Tailored for ages 5 and under. Every Wednesday from Jan 22 - Mar 26
