Jammin In The Park- Take One (O'Fallon Civic Park Concert Series)

Jammin in The Park is a FREE concert series @ O'Fallon Civic Park...check out the schedule and see you in the mosh pit! Hwy 70/K left at the RR Tracks....

Trixie Delight plays live at Civic Park- O'Fallon

She opened with the Led Zeppelin classic “Whole Lotta Love,”  Which I think is appropriate for the times.   The world needs healing, like the words of the song,

"You need coolin', baby, I'm not foolin',
I'm gonna send you back to schoolin',
Way down inside honey, you need it,
I'm gonna give you my love,
I'm gonna give you my love."

We are a thirsty people, as evidenced by the 64oz High Fructose delight on the picnic table near me.  Despite the phrase, ‘pain is temporary,’ it really is not.  Pain and resentment passes through generations when forgiveness and reconciliation does not exist.   But what can just one person do?

Well.  A lot.   Look at Rosa Parks, MLK, Craig Schneider(Welcome Home Iraq Veterans Parade), and Axle Rose(Welcome to the Jungle).  Tonight it was Trixie Delight center stage at the O'Fallon Civic Center(from Hwy 70 across the RR tracks turn left) in front of 500 fans.  Was a stage dive in the works? NO. Although it is always easier to impact the world through anger and hate.

Change through love takes time and persistence, not to mention suffering and endurance.  For example, a diamond is only created following years and years of high pressure and intensity.  Trixie Delight is one of O'Fallon's "diamonds in the rough."

She has been entertaining us for years at the local bar scene..Brewskees, Maggie Malones, Ice & Fuel, to name a few.   She has the ability to impact 500 people at once, to entertain picnicking families, make kids dance and do cartwheels, and cause young and old lovers alike to hold eachother close.

I am by myself but not lonely, I have the companionship of second hand smoke and 500 friends I have not met yet.  A guy slurps a drink next to me and a lady sways in front of me to, "I hate myself for loving you."  I look closer just to make sure I don't know her because she is really into this ballad,

"I think of you every night and day, you took my heart, then you took my pride away....I hate myself for lovin you!"

Life seemed really nice with kids on the playground and adults doing the normal self-absorbed thing.  So make it out if you can to picnic at Civic Park for the 'Jammin Fest' before time runs out.   Pack some food, drinks(no glass), and the most precious commodity of all...your little ones...

p.s. Cafe Rendezvous had a sponsorship tent where you could grab some libations.   I had to Joan Jett out of there when Trixie started the sappy lovesongs like, "It's been so lonely baby with out you here, like a bird without a song....I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant, but nothing can take away these blues, cause nothing compares to you..."  I mean, give me some Bon Jovi, afterall... school is out!!!

So I have to give my sage advice...If you're on the edge of divorce, the edge of suicide, or the edge of a cliff, you should come back in.  Don't give up.  As Jack Handy said, "Quitting is for quitters."  All relationships should come from a point of reconciliation.

Sometimes a torn curtain can never be sewn back.  I get that.   You have to move on with life.  But treat everyday as a gift.  I'm not saying it has to be Christmas, but be thankful you can read, breathe, and spend the night with Trixie, without feeling guilty the next morning.

I knew my night was complete when I saw a couple married probably 40 yrs sharing Toasteds on the picnic table.   Families, frisbees, dogs, and Toasteds...That is why I love Jammin in the Park.  Check out the concert schedule http://www.ofallon.mo.us/dept_tourism_Jammin.htm

Come find me and say hello...oh and Trixie, can I request Living on a Prayer?
