Lifelong Wentzville/OFallon Area Resident Publishes First Novel

Linda Alcorn would like to announce the release of her first novel: Embrace the Waves.

My name is Linda Alcorn and one of my dreams just came true.

I grew up in the Wentzville school district and graduated from Holt High School in 1989. My former classmates likely remember me best for my love of music, writing, and the arts. I had a passion for creativity and a desire to use my talents to touch and inspire people. Instead, I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, went to work for a large corporation in St. Louis, and became a successful project coordinator. For 20 years I lost sight of my dreams, but in late 2010 I decided it was time to take another look at writing. My creative soul was tired of the neglect. I worked nights and weekends for more than two years and finally finished my first novel: Embrace the Waves. The book's release earlier this month was a dream come true.

Embrace the Waves is about a young woman and a romantic pursuit with her teenage crush. Despite a 22-year age difference, the two main characters, Lorri and Drake, are at similar places in their lives and are rebounding together from devastating break-ups. They are both in way over their heads and teetering on the edge of friendship and romance.  This is not a typical fairytale romance or happily-ever-after love story. I tried to use real-life observations, relatable character elements, and genuine emotion to convey that the real heart of the story is about resilience and self-discovery. My hope is for readers to connect with the characters and become a part of that journey.

My new book is available now on paperback and Kindle exclusively through Amazon.com.
