Proud To Live in O'Fallon

A missive about being lucky to live in O'Fallon, MO!

My roots extend to the bootheel of Missouri as my Dad and his Dad and his Dad's Dad all called Holland, MO home.

I grew up in Jackson, TN; I lived in Nashville, TN; I came back to my home of Memphis, TN (where my youngest son is a police officer for the City of Memphis) and I've lived in the suburbs of Chicago and now reside in O'Fallon, MO.

Found this gem by pure accident as my real estate agent, Susan Kraus, was traveling all areas of Saint Charles County to find us a home quickly in order for us to get our son into his senior year (that was a painful story for another time).

The very last house on our list, just like on House Hunters, was the one for us and it is in O'Fallon, MO. I had no reference to the Money Magazine designation of one our nation's top cities in which to live. I had no real exposure to any material. I did have exposure to the citizens and the offerings of a city that has now grown to almost 80,000 residents.

We have a diverse cultural base, an outstanding governing body in the form of Mayor Bill Hennessy and the 10 council members and we have simply put the cream of the crop in government employees starting at the top with Keith Reisberg as City Administrator, our City Clerk Pam Clement, our Chief of Police Colonel Roy Joachimstaler, our outstanding department directors and assistant directors!

If you haven't had a chance to visit Brendan's Playground do so, it will bring you back to the values that brought you here to begin with! Come on down to Fort Zumwalt Park for an outstanding experience of Founder's Day in O'Fallon! Dare I sound like a proud parent or grandparent - well yes I am proud of my home town, the gem of Saint Charles County!
