O’Fallon’s Garden Expo kicks off Spring

The O'Fallon Garden Expo will be held from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, in Fort Zumwalt Park. Free admission, parking, speakers and kids' activities.

Would you like to see more butterflies in your yard, or grow a garden that blooms from spring to fall? At the O’Fallon Garden Expo, you can learn all about butterfly gardening from one of St. Louis’ foremost experts, get tips on growing fine roses and find out which flowers thrive in our region. Not only that, you can shop for plants, practical products and attractive accessories for your yard, too.

The O’Fallon Garden Expo will be held on the grounds outside the historic Heald Home from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, in Fort Zumwalt Park, 1000 Jessup Drive, O’Fallon, Missouri 63366. Admission and parking are free. Activities include:

  • Tom Terrific – Butterfly Gardening
  • Jessica Robinson, Robinson’s Rain Barrels, LLC – The Importance of Rain Barrels and Water Harvesting
  • Connie Goss – The Dirt on Soil
  • Wendy Prakop – What does it mean to go Green?

Free activities:

  • An Arbor Day ceremony beginning at 9:15 a.m.
  • A tree sapling giveaway; one per family; quantity is limited
  • A free kids’ craft in the Environmental Services tent; kids’ game of Whack a Mole
  • The St. Charles Model Railroad Club exhibit will be open, free; donations are welcome

Vendors, organizations and products

  • Garden clubs (the O’Fallon Garden Club, the Rose Society of Greater St. Louis, Lewis and Clark Garden Club), live plants, beekeeping and honey sales, indoor/outdoor gardening products (soils, nutrients, lights), rain barrels, lawn and tree information, and more.
  • City of O’Fallon Historic Heald Home tours, $2 per person
  • Concessions will be available for purchase.

“Spring flowers will be blooming around the Heald Home, making Fort Zumwalt Park a pretty setting for this mini-festival,” said Festival Coordinator Jennifer Hoisington. “If you’re looking for expert advice on gardening and want to shop  for yard and garden accessories on a pretty spring day, please come to the Garden Expo. Kids will enjoy the activities, too.”
