Register for an afternoon of fun by competing in the Human Dogsled Race at "Cabin Fever Daze"

Enter your six-person team in the Human Dogsled Race, one of the main attractions for Cabin Fever Daze, O'Fallon's new winter festival January 25 – 27 in O'Fallon Sports Park.

Mush! Get your team together and enter the Human Dogsled Race, which will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 26. The race is one of the main attractions for Cabin Fever Daze, O’Fallon’s new winter festival, which will be held on January 25 – 27 in O’Fallon Sports Park.

Cabin Fever Daze admission and parking are free. In addition to the Human Dogsled Race, event highlights include ice skating on O’Fallon’s first outdoor rink, broomball, ice carving, a fire performer, the Snowshoe Obstacle Course, and Fruit Cake Chuckin’. Event hours are: Friday, 4-8 p.m., Saturday, noon-8 p.m., and Sunday, 1-5 p.m.

The race entry fee is $25 for a team of six, including four people pulling the sled, one person riding, and one musher. The average minimum age for the team is 15. Teams are encouraged to wear costumes. The main equipment required is a sled – which can be homemade or bought at a store – and harness to attach the four pullers to the sled, hands free. No metal sides or motors are permitted on the sled. First, second and third-place prizes will be awarded to winning teams, plus “Best Costume,” which will be decided by O’Fallon’s Mayor, Bill Hennessy.

Human Dogsled Race applications are available on O’Fallon’s website, www.ofallon.mo.us/CabinFever. Or, pick up an application at O’Fallon’s Parks and Recreation Administration Office, 400 Civic Park Drive, O’Fallon 63366.The office is open from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The deadline to register for the race is Friday, January 18.
